It's important to remember that 2FM is one of the worst performing radio stations in Dublin in terms of audience share - even Lyric FM has a slightly larger audience.

Licence fee is used to make up the costs for 2FM that are not covered by commercial income.

I know in one of the RTE completions a few years ago the prize was a Renault Clio Expression. Which was the entry model, steel wheels, basic trim, basic entainatiment system. Whilst the completions would have got thousands of entries. They could have at least gave a car with decent spec.

bottom line in all this is RTs greed has blown it open and ruined the gravy train for everyone ( Rte mgt + top talent)
If he took the 15% cut like all his fellow contractors did, the gravy train would prob still be chugging along.
RT prob would still be doing LLS and public non the wiser - his abrupt step down has to be something to do with this, no way he would have given up that golden goose.
But his grubby little stroke ( legal, no crime committed) has brought the house of cards down on what's going on at Rte and now there's a forensic lens on the place.
