RTÉ has claimed it was an “editorial” decision to host a number of 2FM parties on boats owned by presenter Doireann Garrihy’s family business.
Dublin Bay Cruises – which has hosted listener parties and birthday parties for the 2FM breakfast show – was never charged for the events.
RTÉ said the parties were not viewed as “formal promotions” for the cruise company, and so no charge applied.
Maybe UK radio is more suited to Ryan?
Doireann Garrihy must have really pissed on someones cornflakes in there.
The last six days there have been four stories leaked. (the Flahavens ad, the €27k from Horse Racing Ireland,to promote Cheltenham , RTE conveniently using her familys boat company when she joined 2FM and the undisclosed sum of money paid to her to host a political convention - an event of which she said ‘I don’t know why I was asked,’)
RTE must be like Festivus come early with the amount of grievances being aired.
RTE is so crooked they have no idea what they should and shouldn’t be doing

The new DG has to make a very strong impact on Monday. He can start by saying that the advice RTE have received is that RT has done nothing illegal. But……………
He then needs to say that…...legal is one measure but his main measure is morality and the behaviour of RT is such that he can have no place in RTE. Needs to say he can not tolerate a person who pretends to be father of the nation., captain kindness, let’s all mind ourselves etc while secretly lining his pockets at a time when the country is struggling and hundreds of thousand of people were surviving on the PUP

I know what you're saying but that's not how it works. Many farms down the country would be very scattered, you'd have land beside a neighbour's house. Right of Ways etc. If you don't own it you don't.

This is how the UK edition of the Sunday Times treated the story last Sunday. I’d say RT has little or no appeal in the UK, despite what he might try to make RTE believe.
It's an awfully cosy set up, RTE using its employee's family's boats. So much for procurement and 3 quotes which you're obliged to seek in public jobs for goods and services!
