Just saw a new 10 home estate pop up on daft recently, Curragh Green. Anyone know where exactly it is? Can’t picture it.
In behind the trees at the junction of Green road and Curragh grange.
Starting at 470k seems like bananas money for the size of the houses, tiny gardens with no light
Yeah I noticed that myself! They’ve built them high as there’s no space for width, and zero sunlight around 8 of the 10. I just couldn’t figure out where they were! Looks like they’ve fairly squeezed them into a small plot of land.
To say nothing of the setup across the road from them. You'd need your head checked
10 houses going in on that site??? Jaysus it is going to be very tight - I saw them marking the ground a few weeks ago and was thinking 4 would go in there(or apartment block) but not 10.
why not look at the planning. Not only will 10 houses fit comfortably, the development also has a good amount of open space. Gardens are similar size to most house at about 35ft length. Gardens are east or west facing and therefore will get the southern sun coming in all day. East facing house will find evening sun will be at the back of the garden, but they will benefit from the morning sun.
Yep, they are rather pricey and the developer will make a very nice profit as they have had the land for many years. (original planning 2013)
unable to locate(I find the planning site cumbersome), however I see that I am thinking / referring to the site on the right hand side of the corner of Currah Grange/Green Road when coming off Green Road. This appears to the site directly opposite the junction.
Planning site is quite easy imo. Key in "Green Road" as location and it will show as Carroll estates. Yes it is just up from the junction.
Sites may seem small when undeveloped, but you'd be surprised at the size once vegetation is cleared.
Here it is (I think).
Yes this is it. I initially thought it was the corner site on Curragh Grange on the right hand side as you come onto Curragh Grange from Green Road. There is a lot of work going on there also
19 dwellings (8 x 2 bed ground floor, 8 x 3 bed duplex, 3 x 3 bed terrace) in 3 blocks, 3 stories high.
And allegedly with at least 100 sq. metre back gardens (10m x 10m in most cases)
The duplex won't have gardens - probably a terrace. Not sure if the ground floor apartments are required to have gardens of that size, but 100sqm is quite small
I was walking past the old stirrups/ granary store bar and see it has been rebranded as moloneys bar. I dont often walk around that area. has that been like that for a while? is it open?
opened on Friday
On another note, anyone know what’s going on directly opposite LIDL?
And with Cox's cash and carry building.
I think i remember reading somewhere that it will be retail units

Not sure if this will be of any interest to anybody, but an update on getting fairer train fares for Newbridge (and Kildare Town).
In case anyone doesn't know, Newbridge and Kildare Town are not included in the Short Hope Zone for train fares. This results in sometimes nonsensical fares between towns a few minutes apart. It means:
This also doesn't factor in the cost of travel in Dublin (Luas, bus, DART) which would be covered by the 90 minute Leap fare. This must be paid in full for commuters from Newbridge and Kildare Town.
There has been a large campaign to get more sensible fares in Newbridge, as well as town busses and integrated fares/Leap.
In April, the National Transport Authority (NTA) announced a revised scheme which would see Newbridge in a new Dublin Commuter Zone (National Fares Strategy 2023). It was stated that the new fares would be published in June and they would prioritise towns on the outskirts (such as Newbridge and Kildare Town) for implementation in the second half of 2023. However, the fares have still not been published, instead recently revealed that they are expected to be published in the 'coming month'.
The group is appealing for more pressure to be put on the NTA and the Department of Transport to commit to rolling out these fares via email (Facebook - Extend the Short Hop Zone - Newbridge & Surrounding Areas Commuters group)
There's also a push to implement Leap integration and a fleet of town busses (similar to towns like Balbriggan, Carlow and Athlone, and what's in the works for Portlaoise).
Bad fire at McDonald’s earlier. Looks like a car at the collection point went up & it spread. Hope everyone got out ok.
Well looks like it burnt the whole thing down from what I seen. Once everyone is safe that's the main thing got the oh to close the windows as not too far from it.
Car went up took the building with it, who's insurance takes the hit or is the driver safe from having to pay to rebuild maccers and they just have to worry about their car
Just some screenshots from various SM sources
I wonder will there be implications for drive-thrus after this?
Really glad there’s nobody injured or worse.
Maybe install a sprinkler system over areas that might be covered.
Hope everyone are safe.
It's a random accident can't see what they can do other than put sprinklers there but sure it may never happen again anywhere.
I agree, but I’m sure the insurance companies will jump on this incident to increase premiums.
The 3/4 storey development near Newbridge Train Station has received permission for 16 housing units (consisting of apartments and duplexes) and 5 retail units (including 1 'large neighbourhood shop').
In total, the site (across separate developers and planning applications) has permission for ~88 new housing units.
