Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Tubridy as reports suggest is out of contract but is still getting paid. How does one secure such a position?
this management company which exists mostly within the ecosystem. I wonder will kickback payments emerge as inducements to producers to select from the mediocre talent list for either program hosting or program guest appearances?
Tubs is going there on Tuesday and it will not be for the benefit of RTE.
His bottom line will be that he has paid all taxes on this and if he has then nothing else will matter to him.
RTE will be going under the bus.
Looks bad to be Lawyering up.
Nah, Tubridy and Kelly are private citizens. The solicitors will be there to remind the politicians of the Angela Kearns case.
You just need to see the questioning of Geraldine O’Leary about Chicago to see how quickly it sh*t can get unnecessarily personal.
Tubs and Kelly taking solicitors to pac, well I never. What’s that old saying….. nothing to hide, nothing to fear. Optics look bad on this one for sure.
Uhmmm…. Have a feeling the Oireachtais committee will be heavily spancelled on Tuesday.
Can’t see them getting too much from these two, have a feeling they will slip off the hook.
Thats the way it’s shaping up, in my opinion.
Every time Renault is mentioned you have to drink a shot 🤪
What the Chairman is for in fairness. If it gets personal or off topic they can refuse to answer or the Chair can butt in.
Does nothing for their image or reputation to have solicitors sitting behind them.
I am interested to see if Tubs tries his fake smarmy laughy persona at the Oireachtas committees next week. I think he might because he won't be able to help himself. It will be great TV nonetheless.
The solicitors move and fixed agenda are poor optics. But not surprised either.
Would they agree to be connected to a lie detector I wonder.
Yes because it's not as if they are on a hiding to nothing, some gombeen or pbp clown trying to make themselves look clever at their expense. If anything thinks still that Tubridy or Noel Kelly have done anything wrong legally they are deluded, the court of public opinion may not like it but that's it. As I've said before the story here is the ineptitude at rte, the blame game on the more recognisable media personalities is exactly what they want.
What hook?
I only dip in and out, because so many posts to catch up on. But it has to be one of the busiest threads and topics on Boards since covid. Over 350 pages in a little over 2 weeks with over 1,000 posts on some days.
Well we don't know if it was a Kelly Tubridy demand, quite possible,or an RTE initiative.
Not the legality or otherwise that was ever at question.
This whole thing will be let blow over, over the summer.
New DG already did a few years in there before so he knows the score of how things are to run.
Primetime the other night. Some lad saying "government gave to step up" because things are so tough and funds will now be so tight.
Politicians won't want enemies in rte coming into an election so they'll need to get money, plenty available anyway in thd budget.
Again it's neither here nor there I could go into work on Monday and demand a private jet and a gold plated private bathroom.
On face value they have nothing to lie about, Tubs has a contract and a letter from Dee saying no reductions to contracted pay, unless there is a legal requirement. He just says that the gigs and reels to keep his pay the same, but give the optics of a pay cut 'on the books' are Dee's doing. NK may have come up with the idea to help Dee out, but at the end of the day Dee gave the go-ahead.
The solicitors will ensure the questions are kept on topic, so there will not be much chance of new revelations.
Yes, but for €75,000 each.
And a car.
And you'd be partly culpable if they gave it to you.
No I wouldn't.
I posted similar earlier but actually I’ve now changed my mind- the enquiry is a zoo conducted by chimpanzees - if I were going I’d lawyer up too - I don’t like Tubridy but that doesn’t mean I’m in favour of a kangaroo court either.
I do agree though that it will “look bad” and optics are everything when your career is hanging in the balance but I can understand it too
Yeah, might be inclined, but the optics are not great.
When you realize that the PAC crew don’t really give a fiddlers about the truth and governance and ethics and morals, and are pretty much just grandstanding and harrying, it’s probably wise to “lawyer” up.
remember: they are all part of the same gravy train. Don’t be fooled.
Oh no. A lot of wealthy people and hard workers are really decent people. It's how you earn your money, not through deception, and how you treat others.
At this stage if RTE said to vote for party X then everyone will vote for party Y. RTE credibility as a national broadcaster is gone.
So the political parties would be better now to pull them to pieces as it will give them a bump for the next election
Tubs sat in RTE for years on huge pay because nobody else would pay for him. Like a lot of the "talent" in RTE if they got pushed out the door tomorrow morning they would be sitting at home "scratching their holes" to coin a phrase.
RTE is awash with people like Tubs, Lottie, Doireann etc...all of whom have limited talent and got to their jobs because they are related to someone
If they are so talented then good on them, let RTE cut them free and they will be snapped up tomorrow morning by all these other high paying companies that want them, so it doesn't matter if I am wrong
The people coming on this thread saying Tubs etc deserved the wage etc, why are you so scared of him been cut free from RTE? sure he will be walking into all these jobs that you keep saying he can get!!!
The committee Chsir needs to have a meeting with these 2 idiots. Ask them to have their office type out the questions they want to ask next week and submit them to the Chair. In the unlikely event of those questions being sensible Brendan Griffin can ask them. The 2 lads can watch from the gallery
An embarrassment they are
Media companies don’t really care too much for “talent.” They crave name recognition. So RT, who I rate as quite a poor broadcaster, brings in huge name recognition in Ireland.
Is that not a bit sexist, you wouldn't say that about Miriam O Callaghan or the great geraldine o leary
Just because someone does not break the law does not always make what they do morally right or ethical . He lied and was two faced. While such actions are not illegal, most people do not find this behaviour acceptable.
Turbridy maybe not be convicted in a court of law of wrongdoing, but in the court of public opinion he has been seen to do wrong. The lawyering up only adds to that perception. His career with RTE is most likely over, Tuesday's events won't save him.
