Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Because you're trying to be smart by telling me to ring the Gardai.
You're not smart.
Marty has always seemed an affable and genuine sort of guy, Tubridy was telling us how we should live and more how we should think.
Fr. Canice Benton was a friend of mine, hotel was full!
Got a grand fry in the morning too.
Gave two brown notes to church roof appeal and a sawbuck to ‘Peters Pence’ box.
Nothing to see here.
Sure. There is no reason whatsoever to think that Renault could be involved in arranging off-book salary top-ups to RTE staff. No possible reason to even ask that question.
Of course, the problem with the "facts" is that we can't trust a damn word any of them say, after every statement we have to wait for an updated version that follows new revelations.
Anyway, we have no reason to suspect Renault would be involved in indirect salary tops for RTE staff. Crazy even to think it.
I would take great exception about anyone even remotely considering me as having got what I wasn’t legally and morally due. Sadly I know there are some absolutely scummy people around who believe everyone else is on the same level of pond life they are themselves.
The Marty affair underlines just how unpopular Tubridy is with the public.
Bishop Tubridy.
If you can someone who "loans" a car for 5 years as "affable and genuine" then I would hate to see who is you think isn't genuine
I’m self-employed, but I just love the holier than thou sorts around here who would never consider taking a half day, pulling a sickie, putting in some extra mileage, throwing a few bottles of wine extra on a night out tab etc.
Real creeping Jesus sorts.
"we all partied"
There's a line though. €345,000 is way beyond that. And not trying to be holier than thou, Marty has a few questions to answer. If he wasn't paying any income tax on a car he had for 6 years, without his employer knowing, he probably gained 20k. The attitude has to be rooted out. A third of the population can't make ends meet and he's shaping around with neon teeth and a perma tan. I don't care how popular he is with women over 50, it appears he's on the take.
TodayFM won't touch him with a barge pole.
That’s what I thought, my thoughts are very much under revision.
Katherine is on her third or fourth ambassador role and all of them with different car companies.
As am I and there are pros and cons. What we have here though is a suspected coterie of people working for a semi state body who saw nothing wrong with schemes to boost their already considerable incomes through very questionable barter arrangements.
Self employed have to worry about the next customer and the one after that and getting paid. These chancers are on fancy salaries and contracts with regular money in their bank accounts. But still milking it. Sorry - no time for them at all, at all.
The interim DG threw RTEs most likeable personality, Marty Moriissey, under the bus to deflect media attention from rte board and executives. Calculated and Disgusting. It's like something the most vile characters in Game of thrones would do
Ive worked in the motor trade for close to 30 years - Ive seen so many" brand ambassadors" getting "freebies**" over the years.
** I obviously dont know each individuals tax declarations and whether they paid tax on these cars.
And to be completely honest the majority of these so called "celebrities" were all complete and utter assholes with a huge sense of entitlement picking up their new car every 6 months for promoting the brand.
And its not just RTE - there were other huge public companies employees getting cars for free - sorry not for free but for services in lieu ie promoting the brand.
The revenue are going to have a field day now. RTE is just the tip of the iceberg. The distributors / dealers have to be **** themselves now.
So his whole character and reputation you're hanging off this?
Because of this issue he can no longer be considered to have been affable, decent, genuine, nice? This car loan erases all the good things that he may possess?
Not paying your TV licence is actually a crime.
What Tubs and Marty did isn’t a crime.
Lot of hypocrisy on display here from the pontificating moralists.
Sorry to hear about your TB.
So what are the baying mob types actually looking for next week with Tubridy’s appearance?
Donate all his money to the poor?
Confess to killing lord Lucan?
Right now, the way I see it, he got paid bucket loads and took what he could get - who wouldn’t?
RTE made some creative accounting decisions in order to understate the true amount of their financial commitments towards him.
Tubridy never called on RTÉ (that we know of at this time) to correct those statements.
Is that it or is there more to this nonsense that I’m missing?
What gets me a bit, is that Tubridy jumped ship with TLLS this year and had his warm fuzzy send off but before all this story broke- I don’t believe for a second that he didn’t know this sh1te was about to hit the fan- it was likely in the making for some time.
I think that’s about the extent of what people will resent him for. His salary is whatever RTÉ and his agent agreed on- absolutely ridiculous amount of money but we’ve known his on bonkers money for years- an extra couple of 100k added on doesn’t change that.
The only good out of this is that hopefully we’ll never again have to listen to his painful lectures - but this baying for blood against him is a pretty extraordinary reaction considering we’ve known he was an over paid under performing “talent” for well over a decade now
That sort of attitude usually comes from an elite sector of society who basically were born with a silver spoon.
On the money Mr.F…. I say…. On the money.
The “I’m not paying my tv licence” brigade have morals and justification on their side. Or maybe their standards aren’t as high as they’d like to project.
Why should they? It's not being used as it should. Why should 37 people pay for flip flops?
Like I said. They’ll justify it.
I'm sure when you pay €170 for something you expect what you paid for in return. If you bought a new strimmers would you accept 15 cans of paint?
And it is justifiable. Very much so.
And all very publicly advertised in the public domain.
A quick Google by a couple of Revenue agents should unearth quite an amount of these "ambassador" arrangements.
Tax evasion is a crime, by the looks of it Marty was at that
