Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Marty might do them for free at time but he's well paid by the women
If Marty was doing nothing wrong why did he hand the car back? Surely he could keep if if everything was okay?
Considering they are already under investigation by Revenue and already had to hand over millions in relation to undeclared PRSI, I suspect undeclared BIK might also end up costing them quite a bit.
because they got caught....
Is Marty staff or self employed?
Will ya go way ouha that. It doesn’t take much these days for folks to be all apologising when trying to appease the fake outraged mob.
If he claimed mileage and travel expenses through subsistence which you can on a personal car for work he's in trouble as he didn't own the car. Those expenses and subsistence are paid out tax free.
It'll only cost the taxpayers. And the money is returned to the state. It needs to be fully investigated but the state finances won't benefit one cent at the end of all this.
MM would be liable for BIK, not RTE.
Is that the best excuse you can come up with.
Rubbish
And?
Yes but he was given a car from work so should have been paying BIK as well.
I expect you will find he isn't paying BIK, loaned the car but was claiming for mileage and for a company car benefit. If he wasn't in his statement he would have clarified all of this. The silence to me would suggest he done all of the above and RTE used it as a wage to increase his salary without having to explain why etc. Similar to Tubs.
Come back and talk down to us after you've learned how to spell " Christmas " !
"fake outraged" to a company swindling the public which is been held up and bailed out multiple times by the tax payer. I think you will find nothing "fake" about the outrage with tax payers
Marty seems to be a decent enough skin, I'd like to think it was just poor judgement and nothing more on his part.
Oh hopefully it blows such a hole in RTE finances that they are forced to downsize, cut their costs, and get their finances in order (without the usual begging bowl for TV licence increases).
But this will all ultimately cost the taxpayer more money, although money well spent to nip these dodgy transactions in the bud.
Then it'll be on to the next scandal. Someone mentioned homeless charities before , my money is on that blowing RTE out of the water.
so was Bertie
You may well be right and if you are I will absolutely say: you were right, but I'm holding fire just yet. In the last few pages I've read that he had to pay VAT/he didn't have to pay VAT, should have paid Tax/didn't have to pay Tax, committed fraud/didn't do anything wrong - so I'm about as skeptical of the expertise of posters on boards, as I am of RTE's business practices.
Tubs has managed to screw up the good times in RTE now if the likes of Marty etc have to start cleaning up the dodgy deals they done
Will he be accepted back in by any of the staff at this stage?
Why would he not have to pay tax?
the marty story is stupid. sounds like a deflection piece offered up by RTE to try and dilute the narrative.
He is an employee.
And by then, what will by then be Tubridys permanent replacement on his radio slot will be nice and settled in and maybe reporting very strong JNLR figures.
Not a viable option
I'm just saying that you don't need to listen to any other posters, simply just describe to yourself what we know so far and you will immediately see clear red flags about the deal with the car.
Rte commentator, travels all over the country, says he was casually given a loan car by a big sponsor, never claims any expenses, quietly handed the car back when RTE were being investigated.
The starting point here just has to be, "hang on a minute".
Free car, no benefit in kind declared.
Again, I can not go to a round of golf organised by a college class mate (and groomsman) even though we have ZERO business relationship.
I'm a public servant, was tired of making profits for faceless shareholders and millionaires, and was attracted by the security. Took a massive paycut to come and actually try to help society and I see politicians and upper echelons of public Ireland be just as underhanded as private sector.
It's **** tiring. Everyone "loves " Marty? Well fu(k Marty. There is no way that a guy, on that salary, thinks that it is OK to get a car for free for that length of time without there being some kind of payments required on it
The tax requirement here is actually pretty unclear to be honest.
Normally in these situations you'd be liable for BIK, but BIK is for earnings from your employer. Renault are not his employer.
He's definitely not liable for VAT, as he didn't buy the car.
Nothing clear. The fact he thought to hand it back points to some dodgy dealings in fairness.
I think an amnesty would be a very good idea to make this irritating distraction to disappear and we can all get back to living our lives in happiness.
While reading the Bible today with some other local sinners at our prayer group we spoke at length about the scandal at RTE and the fiasco with the PAC.
we came to the conclusion that we need a time to heal and the best way to heal ist to set up a commission of truth and reconciliation.
each Talent can write down “their” sins on a sheet of paper and all the sheets of paper will be collected and burned in a symbolic act of cleansing.
each Talent will then make an anonymous donation to a charity of their choice and business can resume as if this sorry series of events never happened
Staff and on the payroll and still several questions arising regarding his statement. He'll be on the hook for a while over this as it's examined in detail. Hardly on his own as regards this carry on, so as yer wan said yesterday.. expect more to be revealed.
