You don't need a car allowance in RTE, you can just get a loan of a car for five years....
This is not a sideshow. It’s very important moment for journalism and broadcasting in this country but perhaps governance and effectiveness to produce change is just as bad each side of the Oireachtas. And nothing will change. Nobody will be held accountable. It’s big moment between the haves and haves not also. Just seems to be no justice or accountability for some sectors of society.

After the next general election takes place, the best way to deal with this crisis would be to replace the licence fee with direct State funding at a lower level than the current licence fee and reduce the number of personnel working at RTÉ. In that scenario, a change in the law could be made to ensure RTÉ's operational independence - a precedent for that is the founding of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which is independent of the government.

I honestly think it was tubridy. He is so self entitled.
The sickening thing is the likes of GoL are at the end of their careers having lived the life of Riley on the barter account and thus the license payers expense. Whatever happens, she and her husband had their fun on our dime and that's all that matters.
There will be no going back and accounting for the largesse. It's gone and enjoyed by those that could have afforded to pay for it themselves.
I strongly suspect this is just a microcosm of what's going on across all publicly funded bodies. I shudder to think what a forensic examination of HSE accounts would look like, not to mention the 6 billion NGO racket. Grant Thornton might find itself short of business, going forward.

And I have always said to my friends group and family who watch the late late he was an absolutely diabolical interviewer who loved the misery. They all liked Tubridy for reasons I could never fully understand.
I found him a completely talentless vulture who preyed on people's misery. He seemed to thrive in conversations about death and ill health. Then for the talented entertainers that came on the late late he had no real interest in their story and constantly tried to steer them towards misery.
A horrible little man.
