Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

The sickening thing is the likes of GoL are at the end of their careers having lived the life of Riley on the barter account and thus the license payers expense. Whatever happens, she and her husband had their fun on our dime and that's all that matters.
There will be no going back and accounting for the largesse. It's gone and enjoyed by those that could have afforded to pay for it themselves.
Who is the prìck that got the car for 5 years?
Tubridy?
He loves a freebie... as we all know. (PieOhMys list)
I honestly think it was tubridy. He is so self entitled.
100% on the BIK.
And the rest of it as well.
I'm sure Revenue are watching all this with glee - they don't like losing a cent to fraud
I hope they were paying BIK on that, loan of a car for 5 years my arse, and wasn’t approved…. Makes you wonder what managing they actually manage to do in luvvie land at all.
After the next general election takes place, the best way to deal with this crisis would be to replace the licence fee with direct State funding at a lower level than the current licence fee and reduce the number of personnel working at RTÉ. In that scenario, a change in the law could be made to ensure RTÉ's operational independence - a precedent for that is the founding of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which is independent of the government.
The good thing about all this is that these RTE types look down their noses at the likes of Mattie, now they have to answer to him
And never will be accountability for some.
GOL will probably mental health her way out of any further committee hearings right up until she leaves RTE and DF has already done that. CFO will be left on the block.
Hard to know where it goes from here.
If it was the USA I would think, RTE would have been raised and they would already have been taken in.
Well, they owe him one, for all the soft-ball interviews he gave them
This is not a sideshow. It’s very important moment for journalism and broadcasting in this country but perhaps governance and effectiveness to produce change is just as bad each side of the Oireachtas. And nothing will change. Nobody will be held accountable. It’s big moment between the haves and haves not also. Just seems to be no justice or accountability for some sectors of society.
You don't need a car allowance in RTE, you can just get a loan of a car for five years....
They should bring back a continuity announcer for it too, on a modest salary of course of around €350k, plus car allowance and expenses.
You forgot...she played the "mental health" card aswell....
Pathetic.....good aul Dee Forbes got in early with it aswell...
The Board of RTE are reported to be considering consulting with the minister Catherine Martin about the possibility of running advertisements on Oireachtas TV.
This is following the release of the latest viewing figures for todays session.A source said " It is one of the best home produced comedy shows on TV and has captured a huge audience share"
😉
Should we set up a go fund me page for him.
To tie him over.
That’s it in a nutshell, CFO out of his depth and the DG and GOL running rings around him. I think it’s in very poor taste to be invoking mental health , when you’ve F?€&3d up in the job and just refuse to be held accountable. Same applies to dee Forbes. You make your bed folks…you lie in it
Yeah their answer on that seemed a bit cagey, something like he hasn't been paid for the last month, but that doesn't mean he's not due to be paid or won't be paid.
From the Independent too.
It is RTE the musical you would want at this stage. Some of stuff I read online, I honestly thought was a wind up.
She certainly came accross as someone who's enjoyed the perks of the job, so to speak (© Joe Duffy), and is not accustomed to being asked to explain herself, let alone be held to account. Mental health my ar$e. A lot of fragile heads in RTÉ it would appear.
This is just patently ridiculous. You can't seriously think that she was only there to check if the place had 4 walls and a roof do you?
How can somebody ascertain if a building is fit for purpose if they don't have any understanding of what that purpose is?
To use your example, how can somebody assess a butchers if they don't know what beef is, and so don't know that it needs to be kept in a chilled and germ free environment?
Actually I can't believe I'm even having to make this point, what a dumbass conversation.
Omg, I thought she was having a stroke aswell. Didn't write it here though, just said here she seemed unwell.
But she re composed herself after that. I think her and DF are the biggest culprits in this and they took advantage of a very naive, gullible and completely out of his dept CFO.
I think her, the DG and director of content have the most explaining to do. GoL in particular didn't do herself any favours today, a senior executive invoking mental health was more than a bit rich - especially when she has a reputation for being a tough operator.
Munster got her lovely today.
We urgently need to have an Official Commission of Inquiry into..........
the dreadfully low standard of TDs that we elect 😡😡😡
Where are you seeing that as it seems from reports he is being paid while suspended
https://m.independent.ie/irish-news/politics/ryan-tubridy-will-be-paid-while-off-air-and-five-more-things-we-learned-from-rtes-oireachtas-grilling/a1808949845.html
Missing there is Fiona Mitchell and Eleanor Burnhill who both sound the same in prerecord news edits.
Fiona was just on RTE 9 news talking about Israel as I typed. 😊
And that is precisely why the public shouldn't get to vote!!
(Although if I could could vote for whoever let Mattie McG and that Louth fella loose to get a slap around the head, I'd be all for it)
That lady who is the commercial director of RTE let the mask slip at the hearing today, she was apoplectic about her and her husbands privacy being invaded, l thought at one stage she was having a stroke. I think her, the cfo and Dee Forbes are the ones who are most culpable.the sense of sheer entitlement she expressed when being questioned by lmelda munster about her bringing her husband to the events… “l brought in x amount of commercial revenue”…..but “isn’t that what you’re paid for” … torpedoed by Imelda
Not a chance that tubs is going to enter into a question and answer session with a bunch of politicians, not a chance.
