Know a few guys with a few outblocks, very time consuming. Add in buffer feeding and z grazing, really adds alot of work
Ye are all over the News here today and yesterday. Coverage on all main news bulletins including (very obvious French) footage of farms etc. 200k cow cull is an excellent way to grab headlines.
It took a long time for that news to reach ye. Are the French media not on twitter, Elon Musk knew about it weeks ago!
Every second person is going on holidays abroad the last few weeks, has air travel been mentioned in carbon emissions yet in ireland?
Just thinking about what's to come next Monday on primetime. Is it a decision by rte to run this now, to take the heat off themselves. Deflect attention of the media somewhere else and hope the heat goes out of there own clusterf**k
No better scapegoats than dairy farmers. The question is are we less popular than Ryan Tubridy...
We are being fcuked under the bus when it comes to water quality.
My buddy was telling me that the samples are taken upstream of any Irish Water sewage plants.
It would be a different story if the rivers were sampled 100m downstream after heavy rain.
Maybe the IFA should hire some environmental consultant to monitor those outfalls. And publish the results for all to see.
As for RTE, the sewage plant in Ringsend couldn’t handle the amount of BS coming out of Montrose
It's the spin that we put on it now will be important, showing how we are up there with the best in the world for animal care. Maybe the vets should give us a dig out. Nothing better than someone holding a pup or kitten saying that farmers would go without food, or put their health on the backfoot to care for our livestock. .
The other option is for something major to happen worldwide on Monday or Tuesday 🤔🤔
Serious heat now on rte …tubirdy and his solicitor due before oirrachtas next week ….hope to god it’s Monday …..hopefully it’s not a targeted hatchet job on us but likely gibbons and co will drive the knife in
If there’s nothing to hide or be ashamed of, then embrace the exposure.
You well know just takes one bad story or minority of farms to do real damage and drag all the good work the majority do down
Assholes in every industry and walk of life. We might be able to blame the mental health again this time. 😉
I would have thought you would be out rioting and looting with the rest of France.
Politicians don't work Mondays so you'll have to hope Tuesday
A logical article on farming emissions at last.
https://www.cragireland.com/post/can-irish-agriculture-be-climate-neutral?postId=36e95789-cab1-4dbf-9e4a-cb51bd40f3e4&utm_campaign=6940848d-a724-4711-9600-16711037821a&utm_source=so&utm_medium=mail&utm_content=9c55d188-0af0-4c2d-97e1-dbcee2b60021&cid=3a6c14e4-fd71-44ef-b7ac-07b2fdd99707
Most people are so far removed from farming nowadays they would think a hard calving is cruelty. There's student vets doing placement on farms and their not even ok with what happens on a working farms.
Seen a comment on another form that their is 5 derogation farmers in the county of Leitrim, and the entire county are on the new updated maps for the 220 kgs/cut, this isn't a science based factual cut, its a agenda driven cut spearheaded by the epa who are lead by a proverbial c**t who wants dairying stopped altogether....
I'd say by Charlie's latest comments derogation is gone after 2025, theirs going to be alot of farms giving up their sfp and chancing it theirs no other choice now, if they shut you down how bad what's the other options going forward
Well where we are in North Kerry is the most dairy intensive area in the county but we are not included in the new 220 limit. The only areas of the county in the 220 limit were a mostly tillage area and also south kerry where it is mostly forestry and sheep on the mountains.
Lad was telling me this morning that if lads don't apply for sfp, there could be a bonus brought in through the co ops and they won't receive it.. is that possible?
Well even if you don't apply for the SFP you must still be Bord Bia compliant.
A bit of help as Tubs and Noel are going before the public accounts committee (PAC) next Tuesday
Even better it's at 11am
It's not a condition of bord bia you've to be cross complaint at the minute, if they make it a condition co-ops will basically bankrupt themselves in the future if derogation goes and to supply them milk you must adhere to this limit, milk pool will easily drop 2 billion litres
Can anyone recommend a bolus that would help first Calvers go back in calf? Have a few late calvers and they are still silent. Wondering if a bolus would help them without having to get them coiled.
Aren't the department after saying that all these reports are older and don't show the improvement in water quality of late 🤔 ...or am I doting again 🤔
Well there is no doubt that all the conditions that milk processors are imposing on suppliers will back fire with reduced milk supplies.
They think they are being smart, that all these regulations will make it easier for them to sell their products but still only pay "world market commodity" prices but soon they will have no product to sell.
They're been way to laid back about it to be honest, then again do upper management actually care if it all goes awry, they'll simply jumpship, the Irish government will have zero issue making irish dairy another sacrificial lamb like bmm and greencore with the sugar beet industry
I wouldn't call that article logical, anything that equates the Green Party to the Nazis in its opening is going to lose all creditability IMO. What's wrong with just writing an article on the facts and whataboutery around unnamed oil companies funding unnamed environmental groups
"To make things better, in the last election, the Green Party got 4% of the vote, and now they call all the shots. It is interesting to note that Hitler had to get 37% of the vote in Germany before he could call all the shots."
They got away with it far too long. The farmer always delivers they say. Something has to give at some stage.
Delighted. This was clearly a conscious deflection effort from RTE and have been sitting on it for years. Let them suffer.
There is alot more farmers in derogation now than there was two years ago or even one year ago. I stopped paying attention when they tried to force us to move water troughs, move fences out from waterways and record 20 grass measures a year.
They take farmers for some fools and mostly get away with it so far.
There is lads farming that haven't even accepted the cut to 220. They are in for some land when the big drop comes.
I know we care about farming. But do the normal shopper care. I know my wife runs from work to the shop, picks up her Lidl milk the SuperValu meat ect. Looks at the price but that's about it.
If satan produced the produce on Mars a working person would buy it, if it was 10cent cheaper.
I think keep the head down and let it blow over. Don't pay the 160 euro rte bill if it comes. Tell the license inspector you don't have a TV. And accuse him of being a pedophile if he goes looking through the window at the kids inside
