Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Most musicals cost money, in the millions. Many I would say don't turn a profit and close. All musicals are a huge risk. The successful ones including Riverdance only work becase they have long running international appeal.
On paper the Toy Show Musical looked risky with a good chance of failure. Redoing it risks spending good money after bad.
As you say, risky behaviour and a huge gamble.
RTE should leave the musicals to others.
I think that a few of the biggest global ad companies were going to cut all spending on ads on RTE, but then Geraldine O'Leary brought them to see Bruce Springsteen in Croker and they all decided to triple their spending with RTE.
Dancing In The Dark is just such a powerful song.
You will be waiting a while if you mean RTE.
He is also out of contract.
Happy for his published wage to be incorrect year on year, while saying he had taken a pay cut repeatedly...he admitted he did a few things wrong himself.
Separate investigations, you'd think revenue are already all over it. One would hope the forensic accountants will have some findings to feed into whatever comes afterwards.
but isn't issuing POs for services not provided illegal , it must be something illegal, at least under accountancy rules...75k for consultancy services that they knew didn't happen and knew was incorrect..
Terrible calling him a liar like that. He said in his last statement what he did wrong. You dont believe him?
The rank and file in RTE would strongly disagree. Hidden payments never go down well, whether solicited or not. Can't see him getting back on the air until he hands back any hidden payments received.
The lads in RTE are kind of like a present day version of Charlie Haughey who was telling everyone to tighten their belts while he lived like a king.
This shower had the hand out to the Government looking for more money and a license fee hike while at the same time spending other peoples money like it was going out of fashion.
But that's Public Service Broadcasting (PSB). You can't be trusted to know what to watch so people better than you get to decide that. And since they're better than you, they deserve more than you do.

Must have been an interesting day.
Oh Don’t be worrying - Kathryn and her family will be fine - well off developers/builders
I think that remains to be seen though, I know who pays what into my bank and I'm sure he knew what his salary was as well. Convenient like all people caught out in certain circles to have no knowledge of events and then leave with I'm sure a nice pension or resign and have medical issues so they can't be held accountable blah blah blah. If there was a list of said people it would be a very long list in this country.
I hope the Revenue decide that those subcontractors are actually employees.
That should finish them off good and proper.
At least the Evoting machines worked. It was just some clown of a politician also wanted a paper trail for the voting machines!
The mandatory per-household broadcasting charge, would have made RTE much more like a government department where the public are simply resigned to wastage and inefficiencies since they can't do anything about it. The thing that makes this thing serious in the eyes of the politicians is ordinary members of the public threatening to not pay their TV license since the whole thing largely requires voluntary compliance.
Think it'll need a helluva lot more than that. You'll notice that when this broke initially, Mr.Tubridy didn't exactly have too many work colleagues coming out to bat for him. Looks like he was tolerated by his co workers out of necessity more than anything else.
He won't be lonely though, has to be some culling in management and executive.
I'm not sure that he is out of contract. I think the present one goes to May 2025.
I'm assuming that the small print says the radio and TV sides were separate, so when he resigned from the LLS that left the radio one at (I think) €250,000 a year. So they'll have to pay him that until May 2025 at least. Might be a cheap way to get rid of him.
Maybe it's all one, that would depend on the small print in the contract. There's also bound to be a section on 'damaging RTE's reputation', but that could be a difficult one to fight in court.
He may take a backroom job as a producer of some kind until 2025.
I said at the beginning that he's finished on RTE, I still cannot see any way back for him, he's damaged goods. The culture in RTE will have to change and re-employing Tubridy will just signal business as usual.
Well he got his name on the ballot cause he was elected a FF TD in 2007 & then cut & ran before the 2011 election when the sh1t was hitting the fan & ran as an independent cause he knew he had no chance of being reelected for FF
the ex CFO was very on the ball and very professional, knew the figures and how it worked, clear opening statement and very in control - to.me this is a typical senior CxO person..she also jumped down a few of the think politician questions ( clown from Louth)
makes me wonder would she have been involved in interview process for Richard, there as alot of contradicting going on.
Richard does not come off as a serious competent senior exec..how did he get the gig as I doubt she would have given him the nod.
Richard has given us such classics as
- I'm not sure what my salary is
- got hus start dates mixed up
- got dates wrong for audit
- gave us the brilliant comparison thing to explain the 3 barter accs , it's like your weekly shopping bill, you don't break it down between tesco dunnes aldi..you view it as one amount.
I see poor Ryan hasn't been paid for a month. Well, the extra 300k plus might make things a bit easier for the poor fella.
It is brilliant TV for a change.
It would be so much more entertaining if the public could vote on who should sit on the PAC, on a daily basis.
For the next sitting I would propose Healy-Rae and Paul Murphy.
No comparison. You said she was there to check out the premises. If she was checking out a butchers shop would she need to know how to carve a carcass?
6 months away you say...
...Pfft....
....sure thats just normal annual leave for Tubridy.....
Not a chance that tubs is going to enter into a question and answer session with a bunch of politicians, not a chance.
That lady who is the commercial director of RTE let the mask slip at the hearing today, she was apoplectic about her and her husbands privacy being invaded, l thought at one stage she was having a stroke. I think her, the cfo and Dee Forbes are the ones who are most culpable.the sense of sheer entitlement she expressed when being questioned by lmelda munster about her bringing her husband to the events… “l brought in x amount of commercial revenue”…..but “isn’t that what you’re paid for” … torpedoed by Imelda
And that is precisely why the public shouldn't get to vote!!
(Although if I could could vote for whoever let Mattie McG and that Louth fella loose to get a slap around the head, I'd be all for it)
Missing there is Fiona Mitchell and Eleanor Burnhill who both sound the same in prerecord news edits.
Fiona was just on RTE 9 news talking about Israel as I typed. 😊
Where are you seeing that as it seems from reports he is being paid while suspended

We urgently need to have an Official Commission of Inquiry into..........
the dreadfully low standard of TDs that we elect 😡😡😡
I think her, the DG and director of content have the most explaining to do. GoL in particular didn't do herself any favours today, a senior executive invoking mental health was more than a bit rich - especially when she has a reputation for being a tough operator.
Munster got her lovely today.
