Now that Ryan has decided(?) to go in front of the committee. I wonder what pr firm he is using to try and rehabilitate image. I could have saved him a lot of money and stress if he had come to me in the beginning. My advice would be as follows: fess up to everything; no equivocation- put on the best act of contrition you can muster; then you may still have a career with RTE when all is said and done. With this in mind, is it that these people are stupid or just so out of touch they think they can brazen it out. I mean this guy covered current affairs scandals over the years doing the papers on his show, surely the one lesson he might have drawn from them is that the grubby truth will out eventually no matter how you try to hide it in these matters. Maybe it's just that his arrogance led him to believe it would be different for him.

Not to be harping on about it, but there is precedence of witnesses taking legal action over the manner they've been questioned at these committees - so, surely, they have to be conscious of that. They can't completely verbally batter somebody who is there as a voluntary witness who hasn't actually been accused of anything.
