Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.
The Commitments - 7th - 19th February (Olympia Theatre)
Elton John - 28th/29th March (3Arena)
Can't wait to hear the 2 songs from this that they don't play every gig.......
Should be a belter anyway.
EDIT: Belfast as well
Plenty of space for another Cork show too, its never a bad show with these lads so hopefully it happens
I can't flipping make this but these guys are great. Excellent new album just out.

Hopefully they play Cork, cant believe its 20 years since they released Permission to Land, what an album.
Where do the years go.
What happened last time. I wanted to go, but been to too many now. Concert burnout is a thing for me
Yeah it'd be handy as I can't make the Dublin date. Even though hear at least 8 of the sings each gig, would still go.
Saw them first supporting Metallica in 03, only heard them like that morning or day or so before, feeling a little bit older again now
They had basically done a full set, but exhausted from having just done the Bowlie Weekender, frustrated by forgetting lyrics (I remember him having words with Isobel either during or just after Photo Jenny) and - possibly - going through bigger issues with Isobel at the time, Stuart smashed a guitar.
It was quite stark and shocking, as it was clearly triggered by genuine frustration, and not done in an attempt at some rock and roll gesture. He then briefly sat at the piano, gathered his thoughts and they did The Boy with the Arab Strap, just to wrap things up, at which point the curtains closed and it was apparent that the show was over.
I found these remarks online:
Chris Geddes: “To be honest, I quite enjoyed most of that show. I actually thought it was going quite well. Then, Stuart and Isobel had a blazing row onstage and Stuart smashed up his guitar. It wasn’t even his own guitar, to add even more embarrassment.”
Richard Colburn: “Oh sweet Jesus, I’d completely forgotten about that show. It is a funny and fond memory now, but at the time it was insane. I’m sure we had to drag the remnants of that guitar around with us. We put it on the bus to remind ourselves what had happened.”

Just letting folks know that Twitter links are no use for non-Twitter users at the mo.
Cheers for the heads up! I'm not sure they're much use for even Twitter users with the state of the site lately either tbh :P

Overhead, The Albatross showcasing songs from their upcoming second album in the Workman's Cellar, week Saturday (15th)
Think they played around NYE, but otherwise they've been very quiet recently. I saw them pre-covid and they were brilliant
Thanks man ... just nabbed some tickets.
not sure if this has been mentioned yet:
Charlatans playing Cork City Hall on 27 October
With "Special Guests".
Could have sworn I saw a poster with Pillow Queens on it for this gig last week.
Yup I posted earlier in the thread with a tweet from them saying they were supporting
Seen The Darkness a few times but I'm tempted now with the 'Full Permission To Land' album been played and of course a possible Xmas song
Macy Gray for Dublin
And 19 years since they replaced Bowie as headliner at Oxegen. Oh how we didn’t laugh.
I'll forever have nightmares remembering them butcher street spirit

I left after The Cure on the Saturday and didn’t return. Though I was impressed by the chutzpah of the promoters in replacing the Dame with a joke-rock band with one hit album. All day drizzle on the Sunday made me feel a lot better.
And what a lineup on that Sat - Cure, Orbital, Strokes, Polly Jean, etc.
While this Summer is looking very good for festivals and gigs, one genre where Ireland has never been great is the superstar dance DJs. Anybody know of any plans for Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Sasha & Digweed, Laurent Garnier, deadmau5, Underworld etc., to tour our fair Isle?
Laurent Garnier cancelled his summer dates due to health reasons.
as for the rest: heard nothing.
index opening up new venue in autumn so possible Sasha/digweed there.
Others are too expensive for indoor venues here
They all play here regularly. Carl Cox played here a few weeks ago! Fatboy Slim plays here every other year. As do S&D. And Deadmau5. Laurent Garnier played here last year.
