Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Ahh Im sure "the toy man" and his own bloated idea of his standing thought it was a great idea.
The Toy Show is one night and you look at a few toys. I know adults who hold parties or meet up with siblings to watch it as a tradition. No matter what d**khead is hosting it. It will be just as popular if I was hosting it :-)
They have zero interest in going watching some over priced rubbish from RTE.
Leo today still professing confidence in RTE execs?!?!
I suppose he's thinking very specifically how RTE covered the private videos of him "dancing" vs the Finnish PM dancing

€5,000 on flip flops for a party lol
Toy Show the Musical was well discussed here on boards last Christmas season. General consensus was that it was a vanity project based around the Toyman, whose carry on has brought all these shenanigans to light. That some of the kids performances were good but overall the whole story was naff and limp. That RTE had no experience in running musicals, and were using state money to undercut commercial pantos and that it was a complete flop. Scandalous ineptitude based on nothing but a vacuous and self indulgent diva.
If you can’t beam em, join em 😉
I didn't see anyone say it was criminal
It is another example of how out of touch RTE is with the general public. Also the lack of ability to stick to a budget. They spent years crying they had no money but blew 2.7m on something like this is crazy. They seem to forget this is tax payer money they are splashing around all the time and when they use all of that they can walk into the government for more
Varadkar will do or say nothing until he thinks it'll benefit his profile. Nothing new there.
Is Tubridy pregnant?? If not he needs to get back to work.
You write that without knowing the full budgetary transactions - you write that knowing false invoices and a culture of underhand transaction is in operation at RTE? You write that knowing a full scale audit into the musical alone has been ordered? How do you write that?
There was also the Christmas panto season - an expensive time for parents - if it wasn’t bloody brilliant then it was doomed to failure because of a very packed market that time of year with established gigs like the Gaiety panto etc or funderland if that’s even still going?
Also, why pay for something called THe Toy show when the free on tv toy show itself was essentially a Tubridy song and dance love fest anyway - a daft idea
It needs to be the FG reps that go after Coveney. They should see that.
You're taking your dwindling coke supply quite well all things considered.
Personally I don't think posters are well advised to spend much time pushing the "it wasn't illegal" angle. They may end up looking very silly by the time this is fully investigated.
Are you at an RTE function to watch it or something?!
…. This is what we’re up against
I assume after reading the above that this is some sort of "parody" account like others that used to frequent this site - Angous Bismarck, Pighead and such.
The gimmick/shtick wore very thin very quickly then, and it's worn very thin now - besides, "young lads" of 13 knocking back pints in pubs and even knowing who Wogan was would be some achievement. Could have at least said they were 16/17!
Well at least they had sense to pay nobody else to advertise it
Just asked the wife, seemingly the price of tickets way too expensive is why she never looked at it
2.7m for it was crazy
You know what would be delicious? If Tubridy started appearing on adds throughout the LLS promoting Renault cars or some other product 😂
# Metoo. Although I'm not sure if that's the correct hashtag or not. 😀
Yes criminal perhaps too strong a word but certainly nobody should be allowed gamble public money like that, whover did should be fully identifiable for their acts.
The Mejia committee... yeah not getting my hopes up after last week.
I half expect an intro from Bill OHerlihy... Oireachtas Commitee Live.
PAC were more serious.
We also have a Comptroller and Auditor General who could do this.
Hardly a criminal act. Let's get some feckin perspective here.
People make business decisions. Executives endorse business decisions. Boards endorse the performance of executives.
If any of those parties make mistakes, serious mistakes as in this case, then they don't have their employment extended. They may be asked to resign.
But this Musical is a succession of bad management decisions, not a criminal act. Heaven forbid any of us might be prosecuted for something we do at work, that isn't actual fraud, deception or assault.
Well that is an issue because by the looks of it millions got channelled into these accounts to hide. So what exactly was the auditors up to in the years before they never asked questions? how many PO etc got paid under "consultancy" via this account etc
Pretty sure there were some ads on buses.
Obvious from the get-go to everyone outside the RTE bubble that the whole thing was guaranteed to be a disaster, some ego(s) were way out of control and nobody in management shouted "stop".
They had no choice. Would have been compelled anyway.
Better to show up voluntarily.
Uh huh.
Is there any hope the Media Committee, or whatever they're called, will be a bit more organised in their questions this time? Most of them were just an embarrassment last week - rambling speechifying by a lot of them, and not a lot of sense or direction.
And hopefully they've either locked Mattie in a cupboard, or organised subtitles for him.
Are they chocolate match sticks and a chocolate bar on your cheese board 🤔
Just pay no heed of the latte glass 😂
