According to the company's accounts, profits at Century Merchandising Services increased during Covid as employees grew from 15 to 23 between 2021 and 2022.
The company posted a €177,000 profit in the year ending March 2021, at which point it had retained earnings of €479,000. The following year it posted a €230,000 profit and increased its earnings to €709,000.
During this time, Mr Kelly and his wife shared remuneration payments of €176,000 in 2021 and €184,000 in 2022.
The couple's other main firm, Cleary Consulting Ltd, also increased profits during Covid, paying the couple €136,000 in 2021 and €114,000 the following year.
The MoS asked Mr Kelly and his wife whether any of the Covid-19 supports had been repaid since their profits had increased.
However, they chose not to respond.
It's great to have these chancers under the spotlight.
The government does need to act strongly here or it will lose a lot of cred. I personally think RTE needs to be rebuilt again from the bottom up with any superfluous parts sold off or shut down. Lay off the "talent" and start again with set limits for pay and a new broadcasting mission. I'd love to see more current affairs and investigative journalism than rubbish shows for NK stooges (e.g. the grotesque show that Operation Transformation has become)

I pay about 900 euro in tax a week and upon regularly seeing stuff like this I wonder why I am even bothering to be law abiding/playing by the rules when so many people are out to be cute hoors and screw the systems over whether it be social housing or this type of ****.
Or maybe I should join them!! There really is not as much honour as they say in being noble and law abiding is there.

So it turn out Forbes was the DG only in name, Noel Kelly was the real DG. As to why the inflated salaries were paid, because it probably suited Noel Kelly to foster the illusion that talent could walk into higher paying jobs elsewhere as it meant more spondoolas for him and his clients!

RE: RTÉ CFO and career, yes you would think that he'd have some media experience but as pointed out what do expect from a CFO in terms of career, however who you all should be looking at is the bizarre appointment of Frances Abeton, who left RTÉ quietly in 2018 or so. That appoint just doesn't sit right with me.
