Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

It's alright and fun overall (seems to be getting a bit of a kicking in some places) but some of the CGI de aging is awful, but I am just a punter not Ryan Tubridy the film expert :)
I'm very surprised Tubs hasn't been papped recently. Where is he holed up I wonder?
Re the idea that if RTE would be one two entities/channels, one public service information, news & current affairs funded by public/tax, the other entertainment funded by adverts, so many people are hooked on current affairs that it would be a miss not to have any advertisements on it, even if slots were just two minutes. The Government would not have a place to put infomercials to a mainstream viewership who follow current affairs.
They might even fix the RTE Player (although we are probably past the point of needing it anyway)
I've been wondering this as well.
On a plain human level, I have a certain amount of sympathy for him and DF, I presume the pair of them are under siege, wherever they are.
But given they both appear prepared to tough it out, said sympathy doesn't really last long.
Probably in his cousins abbeyglen castle.
What sort of “career trajectory” would you expect a CFO to have? Rooting around LinkedIn is a bit weird tbh.
Omey Island. The papps can only reach him on low tide. And you don't want to be stranded out there after dark. Not after dark...
Catching up here, but going back to Gerry Ryan, I never got his popularity at all. My OH used to like him, and when I was off one day from work I caught part of his show while she was listening. He was going on at length about "teabagging" - at 9.30 in the morning! I wonder what the mother of a pre-school child might say when little Jimmy asked her, "What's teabagging, mummy?"
He clearly couldn't give a flying fig what he said.
NB If you're not familiar with what teabagging is, I'd recommend not using a work computer to look it up on Google.
For all the talk of advertising revenue and commercial viability, I've been taking a more than passing interest in this over the past couple of weeks with regard to radio ad breaks and, as many others have also pointed out here, a considerable proportion of the ads seem to constitute inter program promos for other RTE shows or activities as well as public service type advertising funded by the bottomless coffers of the likes of the HSE.
It begs the questions that if the advertising revenue for the prime time spots on RTE are so lucrative, then why aren't they being grabbed up by commercial advertisers paying a premium?
As an aside, and I know it's been compiled before, but anyone care to start a list of the relationships/nepotism rampant within RTE?
When his head comes up above the parapets, he knows he's going to be taking incoming fire.
Certainly 2RN the infrastructure should not be sold off. I don't know the structure but there was comment that Finnish TV for a similar pop might be a good fit.
Someone mentioned upthread that he was seen in a pub in Connemara or somewhere, I forget where exactly.
No idea if that's true obviously.
The terms of his contract stipulate he gets paid for the full length of that contract so that would be the total number of shows or complete season (on radio) despite him being off air. Suspended on full pay.
Yep, I saw that, too. Can't remember where either!
I agree with everything you say, except the cap on salaries, which should be lowered.
240k is still an outrageous and unjustified sum of money to be paying out. It may be comparable to what hospital consultants demand, but the greed of this sector (consultants) should not be used as a yardstick to determine the pay of RTE staff, who are in essence public servants. Hospitals are falling apart and the health service is on its needs because of mismanagement and consultants greed.
RTE is a public service broadcaster, and its employees should fall within a more realistic salary scale. All salaries (including politicians) should be capped at 100k, which is still outrageous for the work that they do. If wages were brought down, there would soon be a corresponding drop in fees for private schools, yacht clubs, golf clubs, property prices etc as reality kicks in. The gravy train has to stop.
We have a population the size of greater Manchester, with more millionaires per head than most other countries. We have record numbers of homelessness and child poverty than ever before. Paying someone 240k annual salary against this backdrop is obscene.
The U.S., that bastion of restraint, regards Ireland as 'the wild west' because of our lack of regulation and governance, not only in relation to tax but everything else as well. RTE shows up yet another organisation riddled with corruption.
It is time for Ireland to come back down to earth. Let the new regime, incorporating many of your suggestions, begin, and let the 'talent' who are dissatisfied with 100k go elsewhere and good riddance.
I was just displaying here in response to another poster enquiring. Post stuff doesn’t mean I have a particular strong personal opinion on a matter. It’s called conversation, chat, what have you, it’s what happens in a discussion board. If you want weird there’s a mirror in your gaff somewhere. 🧌
Must have cost a lot of money to look that cheap!
Your sympathy here for RT and Dee could see you piss off some folks.
I’d be very same. Can’t at alll be easy for either them, probably more so RT, as he is one of Ireland’s most recognizable faces.
when I say wages should be brought down I am referring only to the super-inflated salaries of top earners.
In a bookshop?😅
He's thousands of kilometres from Connemara (5136 to be precise!)
Who cares? do we really need to follow around a "celebrity" and get pictures of them?
Just watching Virgin One news there and they had a report from outside the RTE studios in Cork and showed a sign, Radio Telefis Eireann, I thought that looked incorrect and from Googling it is, RTE branding was supposed to be changed in 2009 and that was going to happen "very quickly". Sloppy, lazy RTE but not surprising given the way they operate. Musn't have had any money to change the sign.

I would agree on a human level he is experiencing a lot of “punishment”, but this is one of life’s very difficult moments which we all experience and he would have enough investments to tide over financially until he inevitable gets on his feet in another guise where he might diversify.
I was just answering a question 🤷♀️
I have no wish to see Tubridy at all.
Honestly even he walked past me now I wouldn't share his information online. Also if I seen someone else posting it I wouldn't share the information. That's just me
Which is exactly why the public would do well in the coming weeks to cast a cold eye on what is coming out of de media here. Bit of a nest of vested interests, not exactly clear if they can be trusted to cover things like these barter dealings.
The fact Gay Byrne had no agent and a ton off talentless eejits are represented by agents like NKM blows a massive hole in your argument. And before you say "Russel Murphy", agents would have nothing to do with that side of things.
Gay is not a great advert for not having an agent
