Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called for Ryan Tubridy and former RTÉ director general Dee Forbes to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in connection with the ongoing payments scandal which has brought the broadcaster to its knees.
Speaking following a meeting of the NUJ’s broadcasting branch, called to discuss the fallout from the scandal on Friday, NUJ secretary Seamus Dooley stressed that the voices of ordinary RTÉ workers need to be heard in the coming external review of RTÉ’s corporate governance.
He said that the union needs to ensure that the terms of reference of that review, which are currently being fast-tracked by the Department of Media, should “encompass the workplace culture and that the voice of workers is heard and represented on the oversight panel”, adding that incoming director general Kevin Bakhurst “needs to make the holding of union and staff meetings his top priority”.
He said that Mr Tubridy, Ms Forbes, and director of content Jim Jennings should be called before PAC, and that Mr Tubridy’s agent Noel Kelly, who negotiated the contract by which Mr Tubridy received €75,000 per year in undisclosed payments, should also appear.
Did I say any of the above? No.
Were Noel Kelly and Ryan Tubridy parties to the above? YES.
And that's why they're in deep doo doo now, and not good eggs.
How is a contractor still getting paid then? Never heard of this happening before, can you explain it?
Perhaps the rest of the staff were not aware of the full extent of the pay Tubs was getting as some was paid on the sly.
All well documented and in the public domain.
Dancing on the head of a pin. Seems like a spectacular waste of time, but the internet is all some people have for human interaction.
NK getting has got his indo mates working hard to restore some reputational damage. This has been predicted on here numerous times. Clearly this will be the lead discussion point on BOC's show tomo, another overpaid muppet.
The incestuous nature of the relationships between different media organisations in Ireland is sickening.
Limnam seems to be allowed post stuff without evidence. One rule for one etc. Sounds familiar
If they were ever disclosed, Tubridys reputation would be in tatters. Forbes never ever ever intended these paymemts be disclosed. She and Tubridy would be out on their ears if they were. Tubridy is talking nonsense when he says its not my fault they weren't disclosed.
I would presume he has a contract to present a daily radio programme, and he’s available and willing to present said programme.
He shacked with the second one for a few years. When she departed be sold the house and downsized.
Wow, that's another twist to this story.
Anton is in rte
Big story on the front page of the Sunday Times tomorrow … 👀👀👀
Just because 73% of people polled blame RTE the most does not mean 73% believe RT is completely innocent. An Irish Mail on Sunday/Amárach poll found "75 per cent saying the presenter should have corrected the record concerning payments he received that were hidden from the public".
He has no contract at present according to RTÉ, which was widely discussed this week, online, in print, on radio, and at the PAC.
Did you miss all of those reports?
No, but I don’t believe RTE.
I'm speculating here. The contract may have entered a 'rolling' phase, so even though the term has expired, there's a verbal agreement to continue paying at same rate for same work. This happens with contractors in other lines of work, eg IT.
id say he’s not near as toxic as you suggest . For now I’m laughing at his misfortune and i would suggest he pulls on the green jersey and pull together with the rest of us 😂😂
No, maybe not, but the problem is the cover up that NK and RT both either started or contributed to
Oh so there IS money in barter accounts.
Someone earlier advised that there wasn't that it was to do with exchanges of skills etc.
My contention is that an account relates to finance ergo money passed through it. Otherwise its just soem kind of journal entry in a ledger.
What account funded the barter account?
Sounds like a nk puff piece
My understanding is RTE don't know themselves if he has a contract, but think they will be sued if they don't pay him. It appears he may have a verbal one. I don't blame them. If they say Goodbye, he can claim he was an employee and the WRC and Revenue's Scope will probably claim the same!
Sunday Independent mustn't have any scoop if they are leading with an opinion poll.
The barter account is essentially a client bank account held by a third party on behalf of RTE.
barter company sold advertising on behalf of RTE, it logged money into a barter account on behalf of RTE.
rte could cash out 50% of all monies at an effective rate of 65 cents on the euro, it also could charge invoices to account again on a 65 cents rate.
so if 100k of adverts sold by barter RTE could cash out 32.5k ( 50k x .65) and if could charge 32.5k of invoices to the barter account.
the barter company would pay out in cash and invoices of total of €65k and keep the remaining 35k as it’s commission for selling 100k of adverts.
I have spoken to someone about this aspect of his arrangement with RTÉ. I think he will find that his hours will present a major problem for him if he tries to go down that road. He “works” 5 hours a week for most of his working year. This increased to approx 7-8 (let’s be generous and say 10) during LLS season. He also takes approx 3 months off per year. He’s not for example an IT contractor working 40 hours a week for years but never taken on full time.
His reputation is in tatters because of pure, unadulterated greed. If he thinks suing the state broadcaster who has made him rich beyond the dreams of 98% of the population then he’s being even more badly advised than when he put out his defiant first statement last week.
“Comedian and satirist Oliver Callan is set to continue broadcasting in Tubridy’s morning slot until at least mid-August, the Irish Daily Mail has learned.”
Son of a former chairman of the RTE board (Tom Savage) and Terry Prone.

Good question... Tubs need to resign immediately
