Maybe the way things were recorded/recognised changed from 2022 and that's how the auditors picked it up back in March when they were doing the audit. You mightn't consider €100k to €150k peanuts, but a lot of talented, highly qualified people would consider that money peanuts. You'd have a load of people leaving RTE (and not just presenters) and the organisation would be in a jock.
The fact is that good people cost money, and if don't pay the going rate, you won't get them.
We are talking about complicity in the scheme and people don't think it is relevant why the scheme was needed in the first place?
Pay cuts announced across the company, Tubridy himself pontificating about taking a paycut while in the background RTE were skirting illegality trying to find ways to give him more money, and people want to pretend Tubridy was just a lucky beneficiary? That he was not in fact the root cause of the entire grubby little stroke? That he and his representative were not the origins of all this?
Its bizarre that people want to downplay Tubridys role in all this. Call the **** spade a spade lads.
Then give him the pay cut and have done with it.

Only way for Tubs to half rescue his tattered reputation is to hand back the money, end of story.
He was way overpaid as he was, even without the secret money.
100,000 or maybe 150,000 is plenty for the highest earners in RTE: we are only a small country. If they do not want that, they can F*** off and there are plenty more who will do the job.

Maybe Tubs asked for a pay rise or didn't want a pay cut and RTE were trying to figure out ways to get him more money. That's on RTE, not Tubbs.
Fcuked if I'd be happy taking a pay cut and before I joined the public service I would have regularly asked for pay rises.
