The listenership at his RTÉ slot when Sean O’Rourke took over actually went up. Pat was by far their biggest star.
Why somebody didn’t twig at that stage that Tubridy was really only worth, tops, around €160000 we will never know.
Why did anyone think Pat Kenny was worth that money to RTÉ? Obviously Newstalk were happy to better that, but they’re a private business and nothing to do with the taxpayer.
Apparently Duffy is paid far more than his equivalent at the BBC Jeremy Vine but Jeremy has 7 million listeners where Duffy has at best 300000. Ridiculous stuff.

Dempsey left RTÉ to go to today FM for more money, creative control, and to be the face of the station - then a very young staton btw and nowhere near the brand it is today. At Today FM he was the biggest star name on their roster. At RTÉ he was not the biggest star by any means.
The move has worked out brilliantly for him. It’s a stretch to suggest he still holds a grievance.

Tubridy's payrise was never going to be made public knowledge because of how it came about. Kelly/Tubridy demanded the Renault deal was underwritten by RTE. If that was made public at the time, Forbes and Tubridy would be in the same situation as today.
Tubridy/Kelly/Forbes all share EQUAL blame.
So in summary it their fault including Tubridy that his real pay was never made public.

Given the lack of answers and the list of actions given to the incompetent RTE management team at the PAC, I think we should be in their offices seizing documents before they are deleted/hidden/shredded. I don't trust them one bit.

But I then also have to accept that if my colleagues find out eventually that while I have been, on the surface, agreeing with them that it’s “tough to manage on this reduced level of pay but that we’ll all pull together and things will work out etc.” but that in actual reality I was demanding, and getting, more money, at their expense, that those colleagues might regard me as a traitor and a liar and might refuse to work with me going forward and my employer might ultimately refuse to renew my contract.

As far as I'm aware there's no issues with RT's company and revenue. If that comes to light I'll be the first to be on here hammering him.
There's also no evidence that RT or NK requested that the salary was to be supplemented through flush funds.
The head of coperate said that she advised NK on how to invoice the slush fund. RTE.
RTE said that they were looking into the market for corp deals and it was RTE who reached out to Renault. not RT or NK.
If you have evidence it was other than thus. Please provide it.
The lady on the Colm O'Mongain show is very good and direct. She said the RTE governance and culture is like something out of the 1970s.
Be no point in him attending pac. As he such a savvy interviewer that the committee would end up being the ones getting interviewed. We’d find out what their first pet was.
