Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

I agree with all that.
But I then also have to accept that if my colleagues find out eventually that while I have been, on the surface, agreeing with them that it’s “tough to manage on this reduced level of pay but that we’ll all pull together and things will work out etc.” but that in actual reality I was demanding, and getting, more money, at their expense, that those colleagues might regard me as a traitor and a liar and might refuse to work with me going forward and my employer might ultimately refuse to renew my contract.
Given the lack of answers and the list of actions given to the incompetent RTE management team at the PAC, I think we should be in their offices seizing documents before they are deleted/hidden/shredded. I don't trust them one bit.
He's not blameless. Have you even followed this story. I will simplify it for you.
Tubridy's payrise was never going to be made public knowledge because of how it came about. Kelly/Tubridy demanded the Renault deal was underwritten by RTE. If that was made public at the time, Forbes and Tubridy would be in the same situation as today.
Tubridy/Kelly/Forbes all share EQUAL blame.
So in summary it their fault including Tubridy that his real pay was never made public.
End of.
Wasting your time. Unless you’re absolutely burying RT personally and professionally, you’ll be seen (by some) to be defending and facilitating.
Even any perceived middle-ground will draw their fire.
They'll definitley behave that way. Because of small minded begrudgery.
Hence why I don't talk to anyone about salary/bonuses/increases/contracts etc.
I'm telling you the cause of the drowning.
You're describing the color of the water.
So once again anyone who criticizes Tubs has an axe to grind?
Dempsey left RTÉ to go to today FM for more money, creative control, and to be the face of the station - then a very young staton btw and nowhere near the brand it is today. At Today FM he was the biggest star name on their roster. At RTÉ he was not the biggest star by any means.
The move has worked out brilliantly for him. It’s a stretch to suggest he still holds a grievance.
Excellent piece in the Indo today. Very explanatory. Pat Kenny was on €950,000 when he left to go to Newstalk in 2013.
The listenership at his RTÉ slot when Sean O’Rourke took over actually went up. Pat was by far their biggest star.
Why somebody didn’t twig at that stage that Tubridy was really only worth, tops, around €160000 we will never know.
Why did anyone think Pat Kenny was worth that money to RTÉ? Obviously Newstalk were happy to better that, but they’re a private business and nothing to do with the taxpayer.
Apparently Duffy is paid far more than his equivalent at the BBC Jeremy Vine but Jeremy has 7 million listeners where Duffy has at best 300000. Ridiculous stuff.
Whatever about not talking about what your renumeration package, would you give interviews pretending you took a pay cut in line with your colleagues knowing full well you were getting the shortfall through an undeclared means?
No, that’s not correct. It was NK who approached RTÉ on this, not the other way around.
That's your opinion of the situation.
That's the way I'm sure most of the Irish public will see it as that's how it will be written out for them same as most of their other opinions.
What I see is an employee looking out for his best interests and RTE coming up with devious backdoor to deliver that.
RTE should have told him to go fck himself. OR had the balls to justify his salary and made it public.
One way or another. RTE at fault.
If my base salary had been cut then yes. As it would be true.
To be fair to Anton, he warned Mullen that he would cut the interview if he wouldn’t allow him to ask questions. He kept shouting him down whenever he’d ask him anything.
Thought it was impressive that he followed through with it.
NK approached RTE on using a slush fund to pay RT?
Evidence?
He did it for 13 yrs all the same. Connections to Dempsey now milking the tax payer via RTE.
I bet he wouldnt be so vocal if Doireann got the late late.
It wasnt his best interests though was it?
Or his career wouldnt be in tatters.
It was short sighted greed without the cop on to see the damage it could do.
Oh and nobody 'objective' uses the word sheeple in a post. Nobody.
But de advertising ...
Thats not my point at all.
My point is that if Tubridy now finds himself out of contract and his contract not being renewed, and thus he finds himself looking for employment in the real world, and finding that a struggle, then he will have to accept that the decisions he made during his career at RTÉ led him to this place.
And he can have no cause for complaint. Is that fair enough?
It turned out that way because of how RTE constructed the payments and RTE not publishing the correct figures.
But you know that already. You just want to keep throwing out irrelevant statements.
Ok my take on the barter
All above board when trading for goods and services. (ie) plumber does a bathroom for an electrician and in return electrician rewires house.
Absolutely illegal and fraudulent when transfering cash. Has to be ffs.
You still refuse to acknowledge that the "devious backdoor" clearly originated from the Tubridy camp.
If you still want to pretend otherwise then I will refer you to my previous comments.
Indeed…de advertising🙄
If you want me to tell you he's fcked now.
Yes he is.
RTE stated that they approached Renault
The RTE CFO ex Dunnes Director financial wizard stated
RTE were looking into ways to increase RT's income.
If you don't want to listen to what was said by RTE and keep hammering on tubs Then I'll refer you to my previous comments.
You were comparing your situation to RT's. You, nobody else, said your behaviour was "morally corrupt". So by extension - so is Tubridy's.
This whole nuttiness with RTE salaries really took off in the Celtic Tiger years (but probably had started with the likes of Gay Byrne and subsequently Gerry Ryan). Nobody at the broadcaster seemed to be questioning the idea that rival channels were waiting in the wings to poach them away. The vast majority of RTE presenters would never be hired by UK prime time TV....perhaps shoved onto a minor daytime slot instead.
I have been accused on this thread of been morally corrupt for not wanting to discuss my personal salary/bonuses with colleagues.
Me and tubs. We should hang.
It must be very boring trying to make the same point over and over and trying to dress it up a different way. You quoted As Good As It Gets a while back and even got that wrong.
Just think about what you are saying.
Why were RTE approaching third parties for ways to increase a contractors income? Go on, work it back and see if you can figure it out.
The implications of it are really **** obvious, it can only be intentional that you are ignoring them.
Suppose you were RT’s parent, ie somebody whom Ryan loves and whose best interest they have at heart, and Ryan asked you your opinion on what he might best do next, what might you suggest?
Ps I believe RT’s mother is a Co-director of his company so, although she hasn’t been well recently, it would stand that he has asked her counsel.
At least it wasn't wasted x
