It is ludicrous for anybody to suggest that the demand for these payments did not originate with Tubridy himself.
To believe otherwise requires the belief that RTE, unprompted and unasked, one day decided to not only give Tubridy extra money, but to route it through a convoluted scheme that also put money in the pocket of Tubridys agent. All without Tubridy requesting any of this or knowing anything about it.
Anybody who thinks Tubridy checked his account one day and was shocked to see extra money there is clearly too stupid to breathe.

Well he just cannot give a statement or interview, especially if he's not going to appear before Dail Committees. I wouldn't like to face some on those committees, some are excellent questioners, others are just interested in a headline.
According to Arthur Beasley in today’s Irish Times Tubs and Noel Kelly will both be invited next week* to appear before an Oireacthas Committee.
If they decline said invitation there exists legislation which will enable said Committee to COMPEL them to attend.

RTE need to cancel his contract immediately and let him do his worst if he can. Yes I know exactly where they come from, I also know that the PAYE, PRSI & USC are correctly deducted, it's all correctly calculated and remitted to Revenue.
I also know that I have not requested nor has an agent acting on my behalf requested that my salary be supplemented in any way.
At least three people know the was this was set up, all of them knew it was wrong & it is no real coincidence that one of them suddenly decided to call time before it became public knowledge.
Keep believing that he is an innocent bystander if you so wish, you won't change my mind & it won't really change the reality, the toyman played games and got caught.
RT isn't an employee though, he provides services to RTE and wasn't tied to a salary scale like direct employees. Like any company who provides a service, his company agreed the rate for his services (or at least the agent NK did), his company was paid for contracted / billed services and his company make the relevant returns to revenue and CRO.
I read somewhere he said all his taxes are correct and up to date. That could be his personal taxes or his companies taxes. RT has to make his own income tax returns. If the extra money was included in his company accounts, correctly recorded, there's no reason he wouldn't be ok with revenue.
But, he kept quiet about the extra money and it looks like RTE tried to hide it. People are annoyed about that.

Whatever happens RTE are going to pay up his contract, they will not want a court case.
He should sue RTE then for reputational damage.
But would be a bit hard to make a case for that after his statement that he should have queried the figures but instead kept quiet and kept the money.
And in court he might be asked some awkward questions... the answers to which or lack of may further damage whatever reputation he has left.

To be fair, they can try "compel" attendance, but it's fairly easy to get out of it as we've seen in the past.
Maybe the new RTE board will want a court case to let all the grubby details come out. They can then say that was the old RTE not the RTE you see now. NKM and RT will not want this to happen. Besides what have RTE to loose by doing this?
Dustin was the turkey that should have been kept, he seems to have got cancelled by RTE over the last few years, hopefully with the big clearout of the powers that be or that were in RTE Dustin will be back on. Imagine the fun Dustin would have knocked out of all this , they didn't like him in RTE because he used to piss inside the tent aswell as outside of it

That's a fair point.
Custom and practice in RTE has been, when a broadcaster on a contract alters or has altered his programmes, hours etc, RTE continue to pay the new salary until a formal new contract is drawn up. It's RTE, not Tubs who have decided not to have him present his radio show.
The danger for Tubridy, NKM and RTE is that the decision about a court case will not be theirs. There is also a movement for non-payment of the Tubridy Tax and that will cause even more problems for RTE.

Maybe the terms of Patrick Kielty's Late Late Show contract are all the proof we need? (assuming there hasn't been any revision since this scandal blew up). €250k for the LLS but Kielty will pay for his own travel and accommodation. That's going to be a bit of a hit after tax. Can you imagine anybody from the NKM stable signing a contract with terms like that?
I for one welcome a full and thorough investigation, particularly if it means RT and NK are questioned.
Maybe a lot because nobody knows how that barter account operated especially if it was used to hide money spent on anything that was a bit iffy
