Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

lol yeah right.
I genuinely would not be surprised if the Garda Financial Crimes Unit does not get involved in the corruption at RTE as this is surely just the beginning of the corruption and due to the nature of RTE's financial backing through Public Funds it would seem logical for the GFCU to be involved at a later stage.
This is more fantastical than the Lord of the Rings. That will never happen.
I'm just stating what RTE said.
The thing is, the Toyman has been exposed as having no moral compass. That's one of the reasons that he is being vilified everywhere
Regardless of the payments from the coperate gig that RTE came up with to increase his income.
It wouldn;t make up for a 40% total cut.
So either way. He still took a cut from the base contract he was hired to do. e.g. The TV/Radio contract.
He did do gigs for Renault. Should he have done them for free?
Do you do much work yourself for free?
I'm not talking about 40per cent since his highest.
I'm talking about over the last few years were it was made out he took a 15 per cent cut.
It was quoted on the news two days ago; I believe it was VM News who reported on it.
A few months ago and over the course of the previous several years they sat in Oireachtas Committees and lied to them about Tubridy's actual salary; the CFO couldn't even tell the Chair how much his own salary was.
Well of course Dee Forbes would go to her on behalf of Tubridy; he's hardly going to do it himself now is he?
The CFO isn't aware of anything by the seems of it; its his go-to response when he's asked a question.
The fact that Renault involved in itself is of no difference; it is what was done after Renault pulled out of the deal that is of main concern.
Out of interest do you work for RTE or have a personal interest in the Company; it baffles me that you would be defending these individuals otherwise.
Well if there is flagrant misuse of public funds and serious fraud and corruption found upon further investigations there will be no choice but for this happen. I am not stating it will, I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised.
Ah it has been pointed out to you multiple times - including in Tubridy's OWN statement - that is not what happened. You continually ignore these points put to you in posts by multiple posters, and cherry pick the lines to reply to.
So either you think he is lying, or you disagree with his own take on it.
You obviously have no case when you have to resort to these misrepresentations to make it.
Brian Stanley on NT just said that they are going to compel RT, NK and DF to attend PAC. If they dont attend they will need to get legal advice as to why not. Brian's on a serious mission here.
afaik it was 11% cut from the base contract TV/Radio.
Then RTE came up with a sideline gig with Renault to increase his income.
So based on the tv.radio contract at the time, he took a cut.
But the renault contract also meant he did work. e.g. work not in the original contract. why wouldn't he paid for it?
Anyway. I don't particularly care if he took a cut or not.
As has been pointed out many times already. Everyone looks out for themselves. It's RT's agents job to look out for RT
So cut or no cut. RT has done nothing wrong here.
RTE are completely and totally in the wrong.
Those hidden payments negated that 40% cut by a third. It was said yesterday there was strong pushback from RT/NK to the latest 15% pay cut.
All the other ten 10 earners took the cut. So when the top ten earners salaries were published it would of been glaringly obvious that Tubridy hadn't. It would have caused uproar and RT/NK would have known it would caused a big scandal. It was very much in their intertest that the extra payments were hidden.
RTE publishes details of the top ten earners (not "Paid") based on their fees. I would have thought that RT's fees should have included all payments made by RTE. They didn't. RT knew they didn't. Ipso facto there was deceit on both sides.
I'm not defending RTE.
The majority of the people on the PAC panel yesterday currently employed should be fired.
Ah sure if you don't want talk about I leave you to it.
I'm not trying to make a "case"
I'm of the opinion he did nothing wrong. Which I'm entitled to right?
I've laid down why I belive that to be the case.
Going around in circles.
RT and NK can push back and be unhappy all the fcking like.
It was RTE's remit to make sure the cuts were in place for all.
RTE devices the gig with Renault.
RTE misrepresented the income.
RTE at fault.
He didn't take a pay cut. He demanded to not have a pay cut or he would leave RTE. So yes RT forced RTE. You claimed he didn't and he did.
His denial of no knowledge of how this was worked out etc is laughable and you can believe he knew nothing. In reality the guy knew exactly what was going on and hence why he hasty departure once he knew it was coming out
I wonder if Leo Varadkar's comment that the conduct in RTE "may be on the wrong side of the law", and his suggestion that accounting rules and company law may have been breached at the station, as well as Stephen Donnelly saying that An Garda Siochana should be notified of "any alleged financial fraud at RTE" could be used to get a lawyer to recommend that they don't appear because a criminal investigation may be pending. The same approach could be used by Geraldine O'Leary et al.
Nothing at all wrong. It seems clear he did nothing legally wrong.
I've said many times.
I don't care if he knew or didn't know
It's not relevant.
How RTE finances it's employees/contractors etc is not a concern of NK or RT.
The same way it's none of my business how my employee funds my wages. I don't care if they're in a secret flush fund or not as long as mine are in the bank when I put the card in.
RTE should have had some balls and told NK and RT where to go.
They failed at every junction here.
It not credible that RT/NK didn't know in advance that the extra payments were not going to show up in his published salary.
We really should have a full public inquiry into the tidy towns bulbgate scandal. I'd love to see those tulips coming before the PAC. Hosta la vista baby.
Did he win anything on the scratcher?
So it been credible that they knew or not does not matter.
Of course it is.
To you.
I don't care.
What I care about is the board in RTE is weak and gets pushed around by agents.
That RTE came up with a bank handed way to increase someones wages.
That RTE are spending 100's of thousands on barter exchange fee's for RT/Rugby world cup and what not.
That it seems the whole RTE board are not fit for purpose.
None of that has anything to do with RT knowing or not knowing.
You aren't stating it "in my opinion he did nothing wrong." You are making a statement of fact. And even in that statement, you don't even state what standard of 'wrong' you are applying. Legal? Ethical? Moral? Reputational? Professional? Long term career prospects?
You appear to be applying an amoral standard that if it is legal it is not wrong.
He lied \ was not fully honest in how he described the pay cuts from RTE, especially as he talked of percentage terms. This money was coming from RTE, directly or indirectly. It was all part of his RTE remuneration. He took a pay cut from one source of his RTE income not all his RTE related income. It is pretty clear his colleagues see this as him having lied to them, and I agree with them.
If he did nothing wrong, why he say otherwise in his statement last Friday?
And if he lied in that statement, was that 'wrong'?
If he did nothing wrong, why is his career finished or seriously in jeopardy?
You are entitled to your opinion that he did nothing wrong, when it is expressed as such. But it's becoming pretty clear you are in a small minority, and the majority view which I share will have serious consequences for Tubridy's career.
And I would add, whether you think he did something 'wrong' or not - It should have been obvious to anyone working in the media how this would be seen by the 'audience' should it come to light wrt negative impact on career and reputation.
It's important for his public image in fairness and his employability in future.
Otherwise it's all on RTE.
I'll ensure any further posts I make on this is made clear it's my opinion.
Sure, but I don't give a fck about his public image or where he works in the future.
Can't stand the man.
