That's not how the PAC works. Every answer you give leads to 10 more questions. That's how they uncover the truth and who's bullsh*tting and who isn't.
He will never work in RTE again unless he appears, so its a win-win either way.

I agree, and out of him, Noel Kelly and Dee Forbes, Tubridy would probably be the only one who would agree to appear at the PAC. He didn't arrange the details of the deal, didn't deal with the barter account, didn't deal with the invoices. He got paid the extra money through NK, and it was NK who was involved in the invoicing with RTE & the barter account.
That said, the big questions to Tubridy would be about why RTE had to try get more money for Tubridy and arrange special deals. Was he threatening to not sign a new contract unless he got more money? As the deal with Renault was for public appearances and he was no longer doing those appearances, where did he think the extra money was still coming from? When was he made aware of the audit and was it a factor in him quitting TLLS?
I think his initial reaction/ statement said it all. That was, for once, the real Tubridy.
He might have salvaged at least a semblance of his good name had he not reacted as he did.

You have thrown out a lot of buzz words there, but thus far they are only buzzwords as there is no legal weight to them.
False accounting? It can be spun as creative accounting all done to get payments which those involved were contractually entitled to.
Misuse of Public Funds? - can be spun as ‘Corporate Hospitality’ . Nothing really earth shattering that those involved with sponsors get match tickets dinners etc . Happens in every corporate industry.
Concealment from board and public - is in itself not illegal
Conspiracy to defraud? - There has been no clear case of illegal self enrichment

The only things RTE thus far has been guilty of is lack of oversight lack of corporate governance, and a culture of ‘them and us’ v rank and file and execs. Which all lead to a breach of trust, and extremely poor optics. Particularly with the public.

IF you're looking at his base salary the statements are true.
RTE should have disclosed earnings from the separate operate gigs that THEY created to increase his income.
Unless and until RT appears before the PAC, suspicion that he knew more than he claims will hang over him.
If he has nothing to hide, he will appear and clear his name.
My guess is, like a lot of his apologists on here, he believes he is above the PAC, that's for the little people and doesn't have to account for anything. He thinks he can bluster his way out of it, hope it all dies down, and come waltzing back on air shortly.

Indeed. This debacle has shown that RT and his trusted advisor NK havent a scintilla of a scruple between them. Not only are they out to get as much money out of the tax payer as they can conceivably manage, they will happily give that tax payer the two fingers when they've been caught out.
I wouldn't expect anything else from an agent, no morality in business and all that, but the fact that Tubridy himself, self style Irish Dalai Lama, signed off on that statement proves that he's as grubby as they come. And of course, lets not forget that we now know the shít hit the fan in early March. Forbes informed RT/NK and a lovely farewell bash was planned so he could exit the stage to applause instead of rotten eggs.
I don't think Christ himself would have a go resurrecting Tubridy at this stage.

But but but, RT knew that it was being mis-reported. He knew the deal NK had agreed with RTE - which was designed to give the appearance that his income had been cut.
Were not a lot of people in RTE including on the board completely oblivious to what Tubridy was actually getting? Moya Doherty for example said she didn't know about the extra payments.
This is the entire essence of this, the operation of a clandestine account to make clandestine payments that many if not most in RTE knew nothing about.
You can't release what you don't know.
In any case, Tubridy has to take ultimate responsibility for this mess. If he and his agent hadn't been so damn greedy none of this would have happened. Once they went down the road of requesting more money, knowing full well he had committed to a pay cut, it could only be done clandestinely. He bears at least 50% blame and to claim it wasn't his fault simply doesn't hold water.

My understanding is he's took nearly 40% cut from when his LLS contract first started.

I can’t believe that Noel Kelly was allowed to get as much power. Years ago in my innocence I never knew of Kelly or paid heed to him.
But boards posters pointed out the amount of RTE people he represented then.
All I could think of was all the problems/conflict of interest and above all lack of competition in the market. I wondered why it had not blown up before. But finally it has now.
Personally I think it is crucial that legislation is brought in to regulate the agents of media personalities to prevent such anti-competitive dominance in future.
