Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

I wasn't surprised by presenters ruling themselves out - obviously at the time we didn't know what had gone on. But Tubridy had run the show into the ground, from what I read about it. The misery slot, the inability to conduct interviews whether light hearted or serious, the ridiculous 'specials' and the toy show with him, the self styled 'toy man' as the centre of attention. 🙄
I couldn't bear to watch the LLS. I tried when he first took over but didn't last more than one show, I would say.
I think Gareth O'Callaghan's comments about Tubridy's mentor ie Gaybo, ring very true. Gaybo wasn't perfect (any more than any of the rest of us) but Tubridy was never fit to tie Gaybo's shoelaces imo, in terms of broadcasting abilities. Tubridy had no connection with people, no curiosity and dare I say it, didn't seem to be very intellectual either - for someone who self -proclaimed to be a bookworm.
And that leads me onto something else - I think Tubridy used to review books as a kid on the toy show, got handed one of the top jobs in RTE in due course and some years later he (along with a few others) has been a catalyst for the collapse of RTE as we know it.
You actually couldn't make it up.
I can’t see him being that stupid , those guys would make bits of him , it would be the equivalent of him going to a house party in tallaght
Oliver, there is no chance of RT coming back.
He’s a fraud in other words
Thats some mug shot lineup
Garrett Turbridy is head of Corporate and International Affairs at the IRFU. I'm sure he is great at giving top tips on tickets to junkets. He owns Tubridy Consulting. And he used to work for.... HERE WE GO.... Deloitte.
Apologies, I did mean to include this in my last response but I’m on the DART at the moment and reception is a little on and off.
I’d just like to say a sincere thank you for being honest enough to say you are connected in some way to the central cast here, however different our opinions may be historically or in the future.
I have been dealing with many posters here over the years who I suspect (to put it mildly) are connected to the aforementioned (in previous posts) but who have flatly denied same - denials I simply don’t believe nor are credible given their vociferous defence of someone they claim not to know, either professionally or socially.
The law states any member of the public can be compelled to attend.
Who? Oliver or RT?
All of a sudden stories of RT being mates with Conor McGregor and having some shared interests seem a lot more plausible aswell
He said in the second statement that he knew the reported figures were incorrect - https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2023/0623/1390784-rte/
In a statement this evening, Ryan Tubridy apologised "unreservedly" and said he takes responsibility for failing to ask questions over why RTÉ published incorrect figures about his earnings.
He said: "RTÉ's accounting treatment and publication of payments made to me between 2017 and 2022 contained serious errors.
"While I have no responsibility for the corporate governance in RTÉ or how or what they publish in their accounts, when my earnings were published I should have asked questions at the time and sought answers as to the circumstances which resulted in incorrect figures being published.
"I didn't, and I bear responsibility for my failure to do so. For this, I apologise unreservedly."
Ah Jesus, Marty is solid enough in my opinion. He covers all the GAA mostly live and is a great commentator I think (not a gaa fan but from what I see he brings great excitement to his commentary)
he also does the news and other reporting not sure is it all GAA or not - but of all the piss takers in RTE he’d be very far down my list.
Davvy again - subject matter expert. No idea what he’s on but atleast he has a bit of a CV.
Oh
If you ignore false accounting, conspiracy to defraud, mis-use of public funds, potential tax evasion via on offshore account, false invoicing with services offered that were never actually delivered, paid for out of public funds, concealment of the real reason for such payments from the board, dg, current cfo and irish public, then yep, nothing to see here.
And Cillian Murphy has to be the lead, going from Oppenhe8imer to an even bigger nuclear carastrophe...
The core problem with RT is that I am 99.9999999999999999999999999% sure that he knew that the payment to his company for annual services provided was very significantly out of kilter to that reported and he went along with it and remained schum. Every dog in the street was aware of the issue re the high salaries that RTE was paying to its so called talents. There was a time also when RTE was treating those payments as confidential for years and the ‘actual ‘ payments was eventually dragged out of them. So it was news for a good number of years
Could you kindly elaborate and be more specific, as I have?
Wonder what that thing is being paid, and also Davy Fitz for his RTE stuff alone besides everything else he has his nose in.
From the above;
"When you have a researcher putting in up to 10 hours a day (and often many hours of what should be their rest time across weekends) in order to meet deadlines, on a take-home wage of less that €400 a week, working for a presenter who earns 20 times that amount — a star who presents a one-hour radio show, half of which is just observations and jaunty waffle, that’s not a wonderful place to work...
Tubridy’s radio show is 53 minutes long. He has a dedicated team of six. This week he betrayed his team, his work colleagues, and his listeners and viewers who welcomed him into their homes. You can't have secret financial deals for your own personal gain, and then try to pawn off the blame for not being able to account publicly for them when you get caught."
This is the crux of it as regards Tubridy's future at RTE. Realistically, he shouldn't have one. But we aren't fully aware of the ins and out of the contracts. It's almost a certainty too, that like a cornered rat with nothing to loose, he will lash out legally to get every last cent he can.
I hope the RTE rank and file staff make such furore that once the musical chairs phase of "board reconstitution" finishes, the 'new boss same as the old boss' will have no choice but to "part ways with Mr Tubridy"
All NKM clients so he forewarned them and possibly as had been mentioned on here before NKM tried to get a similar deal to RT but was told no chance.
Yes
Just as an aside, 100k is a decent salary in Dublin, but it’s very very far from mega high earner territory these days. Most people I know would be there or above. I wouldn’t get too caught up on it.
NK has inordinate influence at RTE. If you tell Tubridy go jump, NK could potentially make life difficult for DGs, etc at RTE because of everyone else he represents at RTE.
The dealing with agents has to end. Everyone has to be brought on board as an RTE full time employee with a salary cap of 200k.
As for exonerating Tubs, you've been banging that drum for a while now. Tubs innocent, did nothing wrong, etc.
RTE wouldn't be in this mess if it wasn't for him pressuring for more money. And I don't buy the BS that Tubs had nothing to do with demanding more money. He obviously did. Agents do not act independently of the wishes of their clients. He's as guilty as NK and Forbes. And if he wasn't he'd be into the PAC in a flash. But he won't be.
Or the conditions, material supplies, etc, therein
You really missed a chance to give the ultimate answer

On the Rugby Tickets, isn't Tubridy'd brother head of corporate affairs at the IRFU?
I would say car communications😀
Did that +100k figure come from the same place that Anglo Iirish's erstwhile David Drumm picked that €7bn figure from?
