Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

I've said that and more all day.
In a way they have no choice of they want to stay on the gravy train. They are obligated to appear before Oireachtais Committees if employed in a position of responsibility public body. If you have left ( Dee Forbes) you are not obligated.
For people in senior positions and significant salary's they seem to be ''not very capable''. Was it a case of ''see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil''. Normally the first rule of public bodies is ''cover you ar5e''.
If I owed a large company I would expect better of senior executives.
There was a window where Tubridy could have donated the money. It was the obvious thing to do given how much his radio gig is worth. If he had done that he might get back on air sooner.
So either RTE cant get rid of him without huge payout
Or there is more to come that even donating the money would not atone for.
Indeed. I agree.
I should also add none of my colleagues has ever published a puff piece.
Course she's not actually sick. Ridiculous conversation to even have.
Fair play. I’d kinda lean your way too. Just that I’d not at all be shocked if I was wrong.
The Center Parcs story is huge.
Other advertisers will probably withdraw during the Tubridy programme. This should force the RTE management to sack him.
She tested positive for dishonesty.
I dont believe her. She is a stranger to the truth as her conduct in RTE demonstrates. So no benefit of the doubt.
Surely stress and pressure are only default states of her stratospheric well paid job. Water off a ducks back so to speak in cash strapped RTE.
No I am just glad that I am not playing the game. I deal with certain pr companies who send me interesting stories and not puff pieces.
I don't believe her. I've gotten off the fence.
I don’t believe her or disbelieve her. Nothing difficult here. Only she knows.
It depends, if they for example put unsold late in the day advertising slots that they couldn't shift though the usual way into the barter account and they were bought up at cents on the euro, but the alternative was it was to remain unsold then 65% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
One would have to know what was lodged or bartered in order to know if using this method was offered value for money in terms of business.
I suspect that this is how it went off the main books. If the unsold slots (I'm presuming that it was used mostly for advertising sales) were given a main book value of zero but actually did manage to have some value through this side method of sales, it's easy to see how with no oversight it could become a slush fund.
Well I don't know anyone apart from you who privately believes she's unwell. But you're entitled to believe that.
Its looking clear to me that those employed are in a relay race.
They hand the baton to the next DirtBird who will continue the legacy and scutter of tax payer abuse.
Omerta.
Most or not booked or paid. They are sent in as there is always space for puff pieces and also if you publish it they will give you an exclusive in the future. If it is a big spread that is minimum one page long some payment might occur but its worth noting these won't be puff pieces.
That's alright for you but when your a staffer in some media enterprise do you just sit there with a smug superior smile looking at your colleges who have to make their living by playing the PR provided game?.
Center Parcs won't be renewing their sponsorship of Tubridys programme and likely to pull out of it altogether according to the Journal.
You’re overreacting here. There is an awful lot of histrionics about all this. I reckon his safety will be just fine in Montrose
Dee Forbes could be pulling a sickie, or genuinely unwell due to stress. Only she knows..
"RTE actually paid Noel Kelly (as a consultant) to advise RTE on the best way to give more business and money to Noel Kelly - Even the West African countries haven't managed to pull that stroke"
Or even akin to, inviting the local burglar around to your house, to review your security arrangements, and paying them for their services?🙄😲😁
(Although it turns out the payments were not for these reasons anyway)
The likes of extra.ie live by the fluff pieces, probably negotiated by NKM - some people must be interested in what Lottie had for breakfast
I'd suspect Dee Forbes will never set foot in front of any committee, it is already very clear that she was up to some very dodgy practices and knows full well that by speaking she can only makes things worse for herself. If she was American there would be an immediate invocation of fifth amendment rights.
Personally I think the biggest disgrace isn't the existence of a slush fund, it is that they were paying the exorbitant fees involved, fees such as 80k on a 150k transaction. That is far beyond bad practice and right into fraud as far as I am concerned. Nobody, absolutely nobody sees those fees and is ok with them, not unless they are getting a cut.
I think if Dee Forbes actually started talking the end result would be criminal charges, so she will be well advised to stay quiet permanently.
Just out of interest are they paid for or booked?
Are they scheduled?
Do they take precedence over other stories?
You're a bit out of touch. You believed Dee Forbes was genuinely unwell and after it took almost 90 seconds Collins to admit his salary, isn't it obvious that RTE workers and the nation is rightly angry with his arrogance.
As a journalist can I just say I would never demean myself by publishing an NKM puff piece or write a story about one of NKM's clients.
It's embarrassing to see some of these puff pieces that are so cringeworthy.
I agree and what was the motivation for that and also the compensation for that.
The Barter account says hold my beer.
Regardless thats their duty or job to attend, the truth doesnt mind being questioned.
Lies on the other hand?
Huh?
tad of an overreaction, no?
I never heard of a barter account
No doubt the barter company is a legit business and is entitled to its 35 percent for the service it offered as you describe however RTE is appears were happy to use it as a path to move funds around where for these transactions they received nothing for that 35 percent fee that they wouldn't have got by using a regular bank account.
Every 65k sent to tubsidy via this route was costing 100k it would appear.
