Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

As one of the committee told him, he was getting paid €200k a year to be little more than a messenger boy for Dee Forbes.
to conceal/hide the payments obviously.
Which UK company runs the barter exchange is not relevant.
There is nothing illegal about agents/unions doing the best deal possible for the people they represent. The same for employees. There has being no evidence that any part of the deal has been illegal. Tubridy like any employee is perfectly entitled to try and get the best deal he can.
I'd be careful with how knowledgeable posters here are about finance, tax, employment law etc. That fact that some people think it's unusual not to charge VAT to a UK company for services should tell you that. That's fairly basic tax knowledge. The situation is bad enough without going down the road of conspiracy theories.
The fact that deal was agreed at all and that if we are believe everything so far only one person in RTE knew anything about it. That's a massive problem. The fact that hundreds of thousands were paid out and no one understood why they were being paid is crazy putting things mildly. The fact that RTEs finance team did not have full sight of expenditure and were happy with that/ did not kick up a fuss is again crazy. Apparently RTE has an internal audit function based on reports. How they didn't pick it up is crazy, external auditors were able to. You can add on top of all this craziness is this has being going on for years.
There is a huge difference between doing nothing legally wrong and making bad business decisions. It's important to remember the standard of proof for criminal prosecutions is "beyond reasonable doubt" even civil trials is "balance of probabilies". The fact RTE are in front of PAC at all means there probably isn't enough evidence for a prosecution civil or criminal.
Maybe but I promise they won’t lose a penny
I believe it was Moya Doherty to called it a "slush fund".
Surely the RTE offices should be getting raided and documents/electronic devices seized with what we are hearing today?
Look, its not anyone related to anyone in RTE. Thats all I wanted to know.
Right thanks makes sense, she seemed disgusted and is safely distanced at the same time.
So if Tubridy doesn't have a contract since May, how can he invoice for all of June's Fees?
Ronan Collins still sticking with the "Blame it all on the DG" excuse.
Not heard all of it but the bit I’ve heard it’s not like they did any better then yesterday.
Dat you Mr Kelly? 🤣
RenaulT are not getting good press here at all at all. I wouldn't but a French car anyway but this will impact their sales.
What we need is a whistleblower. This is only the tip of the iceberg you'd imagine.
I wonder will there be any whistleblowers that will come forward with more dodgy dealings going on at RTE?
No one seems to know how it even works from a pay roll perspective.
"verbal agreement" wtf
If this **** was happening and hidden from shareholders in a private company, the entire board would be 'resigned'
“The chief financial officer… I’m talking about myself here.” The CFO is addled with the disaster today.
At some point the 'Gardai are investigating the issues' line will be uttered but that will go absolutely nowhere.
I'd love to get that CFO and bate him around his garden with my hurl. Then I'd like to pull down his pants and lash him with a big lump of nettles.
The RTE folks are barely acknowledging any of the actions.
What are you talking about? he is a CFO. Probably some people do but not to the level of a CFO.
Is he not called Richard ?
There would be many jackets with three letters on the back arriving at the Montrose holiday camp right about now if this was the states
Richard Collins
There, there.
You're obviously very young.
Well everybody else in the thread seems to be calling him Ronan...
I've never watched any of these PAC committee thingys. I'm fierce impressed with our politicians, they really are sharp and forensic in their questions.
He is, I thought he was called Ronan and I am sure someone in the Oireacthas called him Ronan. Poor Ronan Collins sitting at home going its not me. 😀
Could happen yet. I would not be very surprised tbh.
I understand why you say that. All I can say is having worked at rarified levels in several companies in the UK and Ireland, I'd have been in the same difficult position the ex Chair. Thankfully, it never occurred for me!!
Probably says more about me.....
It’s shocking stuff today tbh.
