Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Some issues with this PAC appearance by the IRHB also.
Genuine question why would a company want to spend money to advertise on Joe Duffy for example?
He spends his time moaning, snuffing, snorting, ignoring the callers going of on topics that very few people have an interest in (jfk in Ireland was topic I heard for a bit yesterday, yeah that is the big one alright ATM) and don't get me started on funny Friday...
Absolutely mate. I think we all know at this stage that we are having the wool pulled over our eyes. The lot of them should go. We should draw a line under this and ensure RTE is reformed and we never have to look at Tubridy again.
I dont know what people expect, NKM will dissolve and it's employees set up something else, new media PR company or new agency, some of the other players will retire, maybe write a book, get involved in other projects, some will set up media companies. There will be a big shake up at RTE, there isn't going to be a revloutation. no one is going to be hung drawn and quartered, hopefully something good will come from it.
Liveline has a huge listenership.
That’s all advertisers are concerned about.
Because his show is one of the most listened to shows on Irish radio. Whether it's bottom-of-the-barrel stuff or not, it gets listeners. Number of listeners means better advertisers. That's all that matters.
As we are all worried about the economy and the environment, this sort of sh1te could be dispensed with. Every little counts!
Why then does it not get many outside adverts? Why are most of the ad breaks occupied by promoting other RTE shows? Riddle me that.
When all else fails, there's always the HSE.
Is Ryan Tubruidys career in Irish broadcasting over at this stage?
His whole schtick was the affable, everyman. We now know he was a money grabbing, selfish person. Even if the payments weren't illegal he knew there was a massive public interest in how much top RTE personalities were paid and he knew he was paid more by RTE than the published figures.
The greed has come back to bite him the 375,000 he got is going to much less than all the future earnings he has now lost (presumably)
All involved, including Tubridy, know this was morally reprehensible.
Feb 2023
The slot gets listeners. It’s the first show of the day after the 9am news on the national broadcaster.
or do you think that when another presenter is when Ryan is on one of his many holidays that no one listens?
To try and get people who listen to Liveline, to also tune in to some of their other shows.
I don't listen to Liveline (or radio in general), so I have no idea who advertises on the show etc. All I'm saying is that generally the content of the show doesn't determine who advertises on it, the number of listeners do. The more listeners, the more likely the show is to have a sponsor, regular advertisers, probably charge more for ads on the show etc. The advertisers don't care if Mary is ringing in to complain about nonsense. If 200k people are listening to Mary complaining, they want an ad right after that which 200k people will hear.
Likewise, it's a good chance for RTE to advertise their own shows to try increase the listener numbers for those, to sell more ads for those.
I haven't caught up yet and i'm about 11 pages behind but something that is sticking out at me and I don't know if its answered is -
How was there 30 - 47K of sandwiches/snacks used up for 3 events in a feckin garage?? Like they must have had a 10 ton truck delivering that amount of sandwiches.
And he tried to justify the high pay as it brought in high ad revenue only that revenue is also coming from the company that pays him 😂
If you don’t laugh you’d cry!
Hilarious to hear the Def Leppard & Motley Crue gig advertised during Liveline. If that's not Liveline ad break filler, I don't know what is.
Chicken fillet rolls are over a fiver these days. Inflation, dahhling 😉
Think Rts was talking about Liveline rather than RT show and the point is very valid (for either). If such shows are such supposedly big draws then why aren't the vast majority of adverts running on them for commercial interests rather than promos for RTE events/programs (presumably provided on an unpaid or off book basis?) Just out of curiosity I noticed the last commecial break for Clair Byrne featured Supervalu and a promo for some Pharmacy which apparently sponsors Claire's program and the News or Weather is seems is sponsored by Grant Heat Pumps!!!
Is that the board that the board that gave its chief executive a third term when only a max of two terms were as per the company’s memorandum and articles of association
Yes I can imagine the phone call to the local Deli -
' H'ya, RTE here, would yis deliver 3,000 chicken fillet rolls to the local Renault garage for next Friday please and we'll want the same for the following 2 Fridays, Ryan will drop in to pay later'
Duffy plays it dumb with callers. He is down with the common man.
There was a discussion about dangerous breeds of dogs, attacking and biting people.
Some guy rang into Liveline.... my neighbour has a cross-breed dog ... alsatian / zimbabwean ridgeback.
Joe Duffy asks him.... "would they be dangerous and dat?"
RTE would be very reluctant to cut him loose as he would leave arguably as a big a hole in R1's schedule as Gerry Ryan's death did for 2FM. But they will have to make a quick call on whether he is salvageable as the worst thing would be to fight to keep him and then decide in a month's time that he has to go anyway...
I take it the garage told them to F off when asked if they were happy to make them “cost neutral”
And fire in some sausage rolls too 😂
….
Canapés and cocktails, dahling, for the luvvies.
One simply couldn't expect them to nibble delicately on a ham and cheese sandwich, the horror!
It was obviously done to ensure the other presenters did not see Tubs true salary. Then they would have been looking for this rate as well.
Otherwise why not just declare his true pay ?
That is why Tubs never corrected the record.
the real question for me is that I presume this attitude permeates through all of the semi states, hse, civil service. its not surprising that we spend so much and get so little back. reminds of the deal houlihan nearly got seems us peasants are just here for the tax.
Ok people keep saying that....but where are these better advertisers on liveline?! Have you listened to it recently?
As I pointed out the majority of ads are for other RTE radio shows, RTE concert orchestra, and govt of Ireland ones.
The demographics of the listeners matters massively to advertisers as well. There are very highly prized demographics and I doubt liveline hits the majority of them....hence the lack of actual high in quality ads...
