Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Because they paid Tubridy money he was legally due contractually - his loyalty bonus.
The morally questionable part was the under reporting of this amount plus wages to the public. And it seems the creative use of a sponsor to hide it, though again not illegal- seemed like common industry practices the way they spoke about it. But it was hidden and not brought to public attention
Barter accounts explained here Independent.
Common anywhere there is sponsoring Soccer Sport etc . Not just media groups.
The “talent need the wages” reminds me the other crock a Sh1t about bankers’ pay.
Whatever about what has happened in the last 10 days, it was around that time that I gave up on the Late Late show (not that I needed much of an excuse) and the sanctimonious git.
I do.
Coked off his head.
Joe Duffy has made the point that the talent brings in the ratings and the revenue. This is rubbish. People just listen to RTE for a variety of reasons - historical and habit etc etc.
Their wages should be halved for next year including Claire Bland.
I would say demographics wise Joe's audience would be less errr desirable/older. The adverts (mostly for other RTE shows when I have listened in) and hearing aids would back that up.
Correct.
Apart from his & Mr Kelly's apparent greed have damaged their own and RTÉ's reputation and sank Dee Forbes career. And we may not be done just yet.
You are not alone
I am here with my money
Though you're poor as shıt
RTE pay me like I'm a big hit
Yes, they’re speaking out now about their conditions but saying nothing about the nepotism as that’s how so many of them got in in the first place %
The government appoint the board.
at the end of the day the government are ultimately responsible.
I think the rather personal “appearance” remarks aren’t needed here.
And without the context of what we now know who would have believed them? Who would have given them airtime and taken them seriously?
I always assumed that all RTE staff would have been well paid, all had access to the pension scheme, and all have the best of equipment available to them. Take them telling Sinead Hussey they can't afford camera crew as an example - how was she supposed to do her job? Conjure them up out of thin air whenever they was a story to report on?
Can somebody explain how this is legal? I keep seeing people say its immoral/unethical but not illegal.
Forbes/NK/Tubridy have essentially used this barter account to sell public airtime to Renault, and pocketed the money (services rendered to Renault, credit note issued, money instead paid to Tubridy).
In our jobs, if any of us sold goods or services to a customer, issued them a credit note, and asked that they Revolut us the money instead, we would be in serious ****. I don't understand why it's any different just because it's the public broadcaster's money.
We learned that Ryan did nothing wrong whatsoever.
So what did we learn from the committee apart from. I no nothing and Dee did it?
Despite the fact it's clear other people knew about it and had to approve it or moved the money.
Will the PAC be any different tomorrow?
I wouldn't think it would be the right time to bring it up.
Jaaysis,it wasn't miserable enough
And I mean that most sincerely, folks.
You would think with all the money he makes he would at least afford a decent feed for himself and put on a bit of weight.
I have no words.
You probably answered your own question there, Ryan, sorry, Sorolla. RTE is the textbook definition of Nepotism. Ordinary Joe Soaps were afraid to speak out for fear of incurring the wrath of generations of sons/daughters/nieces/nephews of RTE’s founding Fathers.
Rotten. To. The. Core.
Still there anyway. Given Joe has 300,000 listeners for less money he should maybe look for a raise.
Reminds me a bit of certain cretin in a fancy suit who was concerned about “coinage” ruining the outline….wonder has he the yellow Lamborghini as well 😎
Every single person who no represent should have their invoice declared and what for.
Should be clear if it’s a daily rate or salary and for how many days.
How many millions is nk getting from rte and seems like they’re telling rte what they’re paying them.
Does 174,000 listeners justify 400,000 euros + a year? I honestly don't know. Sponsorship of show would be a factor too. I'd like to know what Newstalk were hoping for when he joined. Maybe he has surpassed it?
Why didn’t they fight for their colleagues in the past?
if there is/was so much unfairness in the organisation-why didn’t they highlight it earlier?
Yeah, comes across as a very shady character.
Lol, I know. That post stinks of desperation.
They're frustrated after working in a culture of the haves and havenots.
Those who do the grunt work are poorly paid, poorly treated, under-resourced and are expected to do extra work when staff leave. RTE has repeatedly told them they don't have money for office supplies, camera crews etc.
They have obviously been unhappy for some time (and weren't deluding themselves that BBC were waiting to snap them up) but were unable to speak out in a culture of prioritising "stars" such as Tubridy.
This was their chance to speak out about years of frustration and unhappiness.
I think Emma O'Kelly has been very impressive, she'd certainly handle an interview better than Ryan "What the fcuk is on my cue cards" Tubridy.
Na, wealthy Dub of a certain type I could take a guess where he got his suit made.
