Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

On RTE prime time last night it was described as false accounting.
Even Grant Thornton said the invoice description did reflect the services delivered. No consultancy services were provided yet NK invoiced on that basis.
This was a ploy at concealment so that Tubridys pay would avoid proper scrutiny.
Again - ploy, concealment - these are not my words but what was said on Prime Time.
Making it clear to the board that the journalists need to be looked after.
Jesus Mattie McGrath. I nearly escaped him. I believe Peter Fitzpatrick spoke and I mercifully missed him. Christ.
Oh sorry yes, it's the Oireachtas Media Committee.
They are being so vague about that. So he's out of contract.... right.... and he's currently not negotiating a new one... but he's still getting paid?
Its actually better when they ask them about current situations as they come across very incompetent.
Simple stuff like does tubridy have a contract and are ye currently paying him.. eh.. Emm... umm.
The RTE Chair has her own Studio: https://troystudios.ie/
Talk about a conflict of interest.
It is very clear - he still has his radio contract and is being paid. He's off air but being paid.
So for in order for him never to return he'll have to be paid out of his contract.
Not sure who's worse here McGrath or the IDG
My understanding is:
No Rory not you.
McGrath doesn't really understand the answers being given.
I think Richard Collins (CFO) is the real boss here and is deciding the overall responses, including firing Dee Forbes.
I knew nothing about McGrath until today. What an odious individual.
The money paid by RTE was sent to a UK company and invoiced as "consultancy fees" or similar, with no reference to Tubridy or Renault or NK Managament. NK Management then invoiced the UK company and got the money from them.
Hence why the invoicing was false. It was payments from RTE to Tubridy, but through third parties and invoiced as "consultancy fees".
Mattie McGrath and Peter Fitzpatrick - I'd say they have rigorous Dail (Bar) debates.
So RTE requested an invoice from NK and asked them to make it for "consulting" so they could pay out a previously agreed contract?
Some of these questions are dumb, pure grand standing.
Asking the Chairperson if she thinks her position is tenable, i.e. when are you resigning?
On the other hand, they've literally just grilled her for the fact that she let Dee Forbes resign before all of these facts could be determined.
Phew! 4 and a half hours, one break for a pee. Can I claim attendance allowance??
McGrath doesn't really understand. the answers being given
How is Siun in charge of the Board?
just so I understand. What part of that is NK/RT doing something wrong?
No worries I thought same initially.
PAC members are generally a bit more competent.
But some decent ones on this one Munster, Griffin and McNamara all very good.
But if a contract ended how can you pay him part of the ended contract? That seems wrong no?
Taking consultancy fees as a salary top up, paid in a way that avoids scrutiny.
It's not wrong in a legal sense or anything like that, it's just morally wrong.
His radio and tv contract is done, there is still a radio one...they admitted negotiations being done for a new one but it is now not...but they eventually admitted it is still active so he is still getting paid!
I thought Alan Dillon was the worst tbh: no preparation at all.
Mattie is so bad he can't be compared to anyone else.
Gotcha.
So RT and NK have done nothing wrong here.
Niamh Smyth making RTE sound like a bullied school kid that needs a hug
NK and Tubridy getting an invite along with Dee when she is better!
PAC tomorrow!
