I switched on Newstalk to hear Pat Kenny's views on Tubridy/RTE and it turns out he's not there. Replaced by Ivan Yates - another insider who went to Wales for a year for some reason......
100% but her mistake was trying to keep both sides happy by concealing his real earnings,she would have shipped some flak at that the time if she had defended his full salary as the market rate but nothing like the damage her decision to conceal has wrought.As the saying goes," its always the cover up that gets you."
The current management can answer questions on current and future payments to Tubridy.
So Tubridy initially received 75K for three appearances at Renault showrooms. Renault pulled the plug yet RTE continued to pay Tubs for work he wasn't doing anymore. Yet Tubs didn't notice that he was still being paid for this???
Are we really expected to believe all this?
Not only that but I understand that RTE paid for the drinks and hospitality at those events for Renault.
And NK falsely invoiced these 75K payments through the barter company account in the UK as 'Consultancy Services'.
Completely different. Newstalk is a private enterprise and if they want to pay Ivan Yates or Bosco €1m a year that's their choice and they live with the business consequences (and individual careers are impacted). There are less (or no) consequences in RTE - Just the paw out for more.
(Also Ivan went to Wales for bankrupcy due to Celtic Bookmakers collapse - Different issue)

one thing this fiasco has demonstrated to me and like minded people like me who still like to eat their dinner in the middle of the day and we do call it dinner and not lunch like those fancy airy fairy people up above in Dublin is that our national broadcaster is underfunded.
when will our politicians up above in dail eireann open their eyes and ears and look into their hearts and see for themselves that public service broadcasting is just as underfunded as the health service or the education system.

Whether we believe it or not, the deafening silence from RT as regards him telling us that he should not have taken that money is the real bugbear for folks.
I don't understand why they agreed to the extra payments in the first place. He's not going to get a better deal anywhere else. I think he was a terrible presenter for the Late Late. They weren't that desperate for him were they?

Tubridy could not have earned close to half of what he was getting from RTE anywhere else, so why give it to him?
It appears that NKM have a death grip over RTE and Dee Forbes just caved in to all demands.......

The BBC didn't want him (his stand in gigs didn't exactly set the world on fire) and he didn't want to go (or so he said).
He looked at his salary every year when it came to the top 10 earners in RTE...and knew he was making a decent chunk more than the figure published...each and every year but didn't think it was relevant to correct things?
If he was down 75k in his wages each year rather than up 75k would he have raised it?
I'm not too sure Forbes has the intellectual capacity to concoct/implement/manage these schemes. Noel Kelly ran ******** rings around her. Her only positive attribute (that got her the job in the first place imo) is her ability to talk management speak crap (which she is brilliant at)
She probably couldn't believe she actually got the DG position and was completely out of her depth from day one - NK takes a look at Dee and thinks to himself - 'Hello, what have we here then...oooo this is going to be good'
There's no way other members of the board let the slightly dim Forbsey make decisions on her own
Tubs didn't publish the incorrect figure.
It's tubs's agents job to get the best for tubs. He did.
It's tub's jobs to get the best for himself. He did.
It's RTE's job to publish the correct earnings statement. They did not.

The whole RT saga has become soooooo PAINFUL and BORING. The questions have become so silly and repeating the same questions over and over and over again - and across a number of shows, etc.
Just imagine the staff of such a public organisation ‘ literally EATING one of their own’. And just because he did not declare to the public that RTE got it wrong. I wonder if the rest of the staff are whiter than white. What they are now saying is that we have done nothing wrong while ‘ employed ‘ by RTE and if we did we would publicly declare it.
IMO, apart from the actual issue of the payment to RT and how it was handled the real reason why The RTE presenters/journalists are going for the juglear are :-
(1) it makes for very cheap and very lazy radio. It’s very easy to fill in the day - ask any oul question , I’ll get paid my wages anyway as I ca’nt get sacked
(2) It’s a platform to improve their position re wage increase , even better conditions, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.
As an aside, RT contract re the presentation of the L L show is now complete. Was it advertised? My understanding is that all organisations that get public money have to advertise in public all vacancies. The same should go for all other presenting positions when each contract ends
