Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

I would imagine RTE are on the hook for Tubridys existing contract ,don't think theres anything in this that will allow them to renege on it given RTE were party to the scheme. Now does he go on long term gardening leave ,agree a severance settlement or try and rebuild with some John Creedon type shows remains to be seen.I suspect a severance package is most likely as the negative on going feedback would be tough to take for him and his kids if he tries to sit it out.
Surely there is an appetite for a license boycott now, the whole thing sounds like the FAI under Delaney, full of Kickbacks favours and fraud. Pull the whole thing down, get it out of Dublin 4 and decentralise it to the regions.
Given what we know about how he operates, it will be an expensive endeavour for RTE to offload him.
The only way out may be a technical winding up of RTE or a "bad broadcaster" type vehicle to offload the dud contracts on.
I am not deflecting at all, just stating a point that Dunphy and others also pulled a handy number out of Rte, surly can express a view like any other poster and maybe time to take off the blinkers and get down off the high horse, podcasts what are they us down the country live in the dark ages.
Not sure what a license boycott will achieve in fairness. An even worse service or it comes from taxation. Either way you bite your nose to spite your face.
We already have monkeys but unfortunately they are not paid peanuts.
Tubs should pitch a new games show called "On The Take". Usual format - 3 or 4 lucky contestants, tacky set, some generic easy questions and our genial host.
(Voiceover) Welcome to this week's On The Take, please welcome our host, Ryan Tubbbbrideeeeee!
---- Ryan dances into view to enthusiastic applause ----
Ryan bigs himself up, asks each contestant a few condescending questions and explains the concept:
"On The Take is an exciting new game show where each week one lucky contestant will get to present me with the ticket for a holiday to an exciting destination, AND get their photo taken with me as a souvenir - aren't they lucky? This week I'll be heading to Australia! What an extraordinary coincidence, I've always said I want to go there!"
---- some awkward applause ---
--- Ryan continues as he can't read the room ----
"Before we begin, let's thank our sponsors, the unsuspecting taxpayers of Ireland!
--- no applause, awkward pause ----
---- Ryan continues, noticeably bemused ----
"Lastly, let's welcome our independent adjucator, who is not employed by RTE, Deeeeee Forrrrrrbes!"
---- camera pans to audience ----
Well I could email them and ask.
Good summary here.
Oh they’ll pay him off whatever’s legally owed in contract. But I imagine contract involves his delivery as a basic. If that cannot be, it all depends on the inner specifics of the contract.
What was that about? Sounded like a mental breakdown.
There's an underlying uncomfortable truth, it's showbiz. All eyes are on RT and Dee et al knew this and had to pay the market rate while taking a hammer to the rest of RTE spending. Tough spot.
She has some Poker Face 😉
sounds a bit like share or shaft
One difference between Dunphy and Tubs is Dunphy voluntarily asked to take a cut and didn’t broadcast it.
Tubs PRETENDED to take a cut, sought and received publicity for it, and did it over a 6 year period.
I know which approach I prefer.
The wheels on the gravy train came off one by one, one by one, one by one
The wheels on the gravy train came off one by one, all day long
The reputations on the gravy train were ruined one by one, one by one, one by one
The reputations on the gravy train were ruined one by one all day long
*pretend trains have wheels
This is delicious.

One more for the road.
Agree, and if rte finance didnt have oversight of the barter account until recently, how was the payment made. Is this how it worked?
Year 1, RTE billed Renault for XX in advertising then issued a credit for 75k and Renault paid RTE XX less 75k. Presumably NK billed Renault for 75k, got paid, passed the funds to Tubs and also billed RTE for his commission.
Year 2 &3, Renault ends the deal and RTE tells NK to invoice Astus London 150k for consultancy. Astus paid NK who passed the funds to Tubs. Again presumably NK billed RTE for his commission. For Astus to recoup their 150k outlay, presumably they had to invoice RTE, who then discharged the bill. All neatly tied up 😳😳. Well spotted by the auditor doing the 2022 audit !!
Good heavens, is Land Rover involved as well? It never ends!
paid through the barter account to hide it.
If the report had actually used language like that, it would be a bit more believable
What time is kick off today?
Or David Coleman, who seems to be the only child psychologist in Ireland.
It is pertinent. Ryan Tubridy is infamous for his name dropping of products on his radio show. There is and have been long running threads here listing all the supposed freebies he has received and ones he hints at liking. It’s a regular thing with him.
Question arise so, were some of these product endorsements, product placement scenarios? He could well say for example “Hi folks, oh and I had a great trip to Cashel at the weekend, super place and very quick pleasant spin down & back in the Renault Megane. Great coffee in xyz and super pleased to receive a wee hamper of scrumptious goodies from xyz this morning” That’d be typical content.
Listeners will wonder now if/ was he getting paid for these mentions/ plugs? If so, were RTÉ getting paid for these, as they should be. Or if so, another line of revenue for our man Tubridy?
Lol
Invoices falsely sent by NK requesting payment for 'consultancy services' could be a thing. If RTE want to go down that route.
As they said on the radio this morning, if the CFO and Commercial director don't appear at the PAC today, it will be a bit of a farce and prove that RTE management are trying to hide the truth - which they absolutely are doing. Get those decision makers in and see what they know.
They do have wheels!
So are we going to see a clearing out of the politically charged promotions of celebrity republican personalities in RTE for political gain? I’m thinking the likes of Doireann Garrighy and Carl Mullan. One a rugger girl through and through, taking the p1ss and breaking etticut and the other a carbon copy of Ross O’Carroll Kelly in real life?
This is what FF SF do, they promote their own to plant seeds in the minds of the public and get them to sin. In the case of Forbes I presume she has/had a son/relatives in Blackrock College. The incessant corruption goes far beyond back handed pay increases, it involves the promotion of people that suit their agenda and making them stars.
Leo Cullen does it in Leinster so it’s not a unique trait these Blackrock College republicans have of promoting FF friendly personalities. I’m thinking James Ryan. Cut below sixth choice for the Lions by Gatland and never made the tour but lauded by Cullen and his supporters on the rugby section here as the next great white hope due to his heritage.
Sickening, the removed nepotism that goes with their political form of management.
Well there was a guarantee.
