However the practice for being a member of a board is that you are paid mostly. And as I said there are plenty of questions over where this GaaGo money is actually going.

I think that is more due to the way indo radio was set up in the late 1980s, many of those presenters were part of the organizations signing original contract. Some had experience presenting, others where just around. By the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s many of those presenters sold their holding in their Radio stations but stayed on as presenters. Your seeing some changes as time has gone on with local radio, Damien Tiernan is probably the best new recruit on local radio (though a former RTÉ person), and weather or not you like the Dublin Shock jock they can bring a programme together.

Even if the BBC did want to poach Irish presenters, they would generally have to pay a premium to entice them across. Can you really see the BBC making Tubridy one of their top 3 paid presenters?

Forbes + co for whatever reason felt they had to come up with a grey area money routing wheeze to ultimately pay the supposedly uber talented unique Tubridy (+who knows whom else) what they and their agent demanded in the face of pressure over cost reductions to make it look like they were complying whilst simultaneously harassing the plebs for more licence F€€'s
SO they hatched a clever sandwich scheme to move the right amount of "paycut" implicated public TV Licence taxmoney about so it was in the dark, as follows:
they worked out the effective balance of monies that would have been involved in the fake paycut
effectively transposed these monies into sponsors likes of Renault etc.
whom then in turn paid those monies to this offshore London based construct
whom then in turn paid those monies into Tubridy's (+who knows whom else) Ltd. account
from which Tubridy et al pays themselves a wage and services various who the hell knows hanger-oner invoices etc.
KEY POINT: RTE/Forbes took PUBLIC (as opposed to commercially generated) money and routed it around the houses hoping nobody would see. with the scheme they could continue to present the numbers and they looked correct. but it was YOUR money that was feeding the routing wheeze

She was on a contract AFAIK (due to expire in a fortnight) so presumably wasn't getting a pension.
So based on the Grant Thorntan report, am I right in thinking that:
(a) Tubridy's contract runs to 2025
(b) He's entitled to further 75k payments
(c) As he didn't break his contract, RTE are faced with re-employing him or paying off the remainder of his contract.

At a guess, the assumption would have been based on the average ages of cars on Irish roads, rather than any assumption about changing cars in any particular period.
Until he comes out publicly to apologize for trousering 100s a 1000s taxpayers money that he didn’t earn, and definitely didn’t need (during a pandemic where many folks were losing their jobs and many businesses suffering terrible financial loss), all the while on our tv screens faking that he gave a sh1t, I think it’s safe to assume that most of the public will be cold for him.
