Exaclty. How many transactions have put through barter accounts and why. They should start with that.
It's my opinion allinall that gaago, a joint rte/gaa venture's board must have been reimbursed for expenses and, I'll go out on a limb, probably paid for being on the board.
At local government level you'd see payments to councillors on various cttes being listed.
Maybe Dee Forbes wasn't, but I'm not convinced yet. And considering how badly GaaGo has been received. Very high fees for games, where is that money going? Another dodgy off shoot of rte. The question of whether Dee Forbes is being paid on it is out there. Why would an rte spokesperson make a statement otherwise. I'm not the first to ask it or question the veracity of the rte statement.
I would hope that whatever whitewash the board at RTE are hoping to generate gets knocked down as well.
You are dealing with celebs and former celebs who have lived in a balloon of appeasement all their lives. Rightly or wrongly the board are directly responsible for appointing a CEO.
For me the accountable parties are,
The Board, The board's appointed management structure and its' composition. The AUDITORS and Accountants.
Whilst Dee Forbes is knee deep, there are other powerful figures within the board and other associated committees that will have been leaning on and coercing Ms Forbes since day 1. Those same people are the ones that award all those advertising contracts, are friends with production committees, have all the goss on politicians and give summer internships to gorgeous bimbos on 2FM and kiddies telly.
They know who they are.
I remain very skeptical about these ‘barter accounts’ particularly where some broker is involved. Surely there are opportunities in this to engage in tax avoidance. We need to hear more about these, how RTÉ operates them and how widespread are they in business generally………
There were so many high-profile RTE journalists on the picket line this afternoon voicing their discontent on the record about long-standing issues in RTE. I suspect they will be unsatisfied with this evening's report. Really the last thing you want is a bunch of angry journalists in your employment who are highly motivated to dig deep and uncover your wrongdoings.

Ireland is a small market though. A few private tv stations and radio stations is all. The market value is false for these guys and id suspect thats why some of his colleagues are so pissed off with him. He may have just burst the bubble.

There is no comparable market to RTE as I already explained to you. These salaries for the top earners are nothing short of made up.

The problem here is that tubs hasnt done anything (that we know so far) that he can be fired for, so the RTE board have to try and get him back on air because he has to be paid regardless.
The are trying to blame dee forbes for everything and its pretty obvious she wasnt the only one who knew.
The only question now is if Dee will take all the blame and take all the flack for this, because if she comes out swinging things will get worse, much worse

I was referring though to the advice the Board would have sought in order to draft their recent statement. I doubt they did that all by their little selves!

An RTÉ spokesperson said Ms Forbes was not paid for this role. However, should I believe an RTE spokesperson?
She(Forbes) will be even sicker after reading this report that puts it all on her. She might summon the strength from somewhere to recover to give her side of the story. I feel there is more to come in this story. Also many RTE staff do seem to give a fiddlers!
What I find of GREAT interest is why was Ryan T the only one of the TOP 10 earners selected to ‘ AVAiL’ of the extra payment scam. Were not the rest of them quiet capable of carrying out ‘ the needed consultancy work’ to justify some extra ‘pocket money. Most of the 10 were managed by NK and the use of the ‘special account’ seems to be a well known practice. So why were the other advertisers not used for the same purpose and some other of ‘ the talent’ avail of same? Maybe RtT was the only one that NK could guarantee would go along with the scam and would remain chum about it. As MANUEL - Faulty Towers fame- used to say ‘I know nooooothing’
Which just goes to prove that overpayment for mediocrity is not confined to RTE.
The government is paying for an independent review, the Oireachtas Committee and PAC might ruffle a few feather and DF might decide she's not going to be a handy scapegoat after all.
It's hard to know what someone's worth in a position like that. It's like Premier League footballers. We can all give out and say they are on too much money but that's the market rate for Premier League footballers. Similarly, around €300k seems to be roughly the market rate for the top 10 RTE presenters.
Pat Kenny with Newstalk was on a €2m deal with Newstalk for 5 years so that's about €400k per year. I know it's a private company but it shows that many top presenters in Ireland are on deals of €300k or more.
Are they worth it? Like Premier League footballers, who knows.

So the taxpayer is paying (presumably) for the best advice from the top legal eagles for the Board to defend itself. Doesn't sound to me that they would have the competence to cobble together that statement without expensive external advice.
