I'm clearly mocking the RTÉ statement. I’m not defending O’Leary in any way and I was mocking Forbes “illness” in my earlier post. The 🙄 was meant sarcastically. I do not believe she’s ill.

Even if Dee Forbes was a micromanaging bad delagater it in no way exhonorates Ryan Tubridy.
Or explains the interaction between him, Kelly and Forbes in getting these extra payments.
Like the mythical coke (quite apt analogy for RTE!) recipe, loads of people know a few parts, but only a handful know all the parts.
However like the coke recipe, that's clearly a myth. If the senior management team are operating in silos and secrecy how on earth can rte be managed effectively.

RTE is not fit for purpose anymore and the best thing for the normal, hardworking employees would be for the upper echelons to fook right off.

AFAIK know RTÉ ask for presenter wages or estimates of wages for talent when they commission a series, RTÉ need to know how much is spend on the production and how much is going to talent and producers.
RTE pays the presenter a very high wage, presenter gets paid by an independent production company, RTE buys the show.
Effectively, they're paying the presenter a salary and a top up. Surely they could have used this information when they were so desperate to cut salaries?

Yep and of every party he can at least say he did what he was told - not up to him to know how RT was being paid - he looks like he was doing the best for his client! Id love for him to come out and tell us what actually is going on and id say he is our only chance of that in the short term.
RTE are leaving out detail on these facilitation fees - you don’t get 80k on a single transaction without doing something really dodgy - a high price for what exactly? What was the deal?

I've without question been the most vocal person this thread on this subject and I've been unequivocal in my condemnation of all parties involved....so much so that we had one poster re-reg and call openly and via PMs to mods to have me removed from the thread, not to mention all of the other underhand "shenanigans" I've had to put up with for my positions on Forbes, Tubridy, Kelly, and RTE. And none of this is new to me, I've been posting about all of the above for years.
If you're trying to suggest I'm defending Forbes or O'Leary in the above 2 quoted posts, you couldn't be more wrong.
And Dee Forbes was all about getting rid of those Silos, that was her big thing back in the day.

So the taxpayer is paying (presumably) for the best advice from the top legal eagles for the Board to defend itself. Doesn't sound to me that they would have the competence to cobble together that statement without expensive external advice.

It's hard to know what someone's worth in a position like that. It's like Premier League footballers. We can all give out and say they are on too much money but that's the market rate for Premier League footballers. Similarly, around €300k seems to be roughly the market rate for the top 10 RTE presenters.
Pat Kenny with Newstalk was on a €2m deal with Newstalk for 5 years so that's about €400k per year. I know it's a private company but it shows that many top presenters in Ireland are on deals of €300k or more.
Are they worth it? Like Premier League footballers, who knows.
