Irrespective of right and wrong, this whole thing is just vexing to read and if RT were on the radio tomorrow morning, I’d change channel.

For me, the report is silent as to why the under the counter payment was routed through a barter company - at some additional cost to RTE. That's an area I'd like to see some answers to

Would RTE have sight of what independent productions pay their presenters? I would have presumed RTE just buy the show as a package and wouldn't be privy to the internal workings.
Yep, if it was above board and inline with contractual obligations why was the money transferred through the relevant RTE account? Why did they use a UK barter account that cost tens of thousands more?
I think most people are like or have some idea what the it should be within reason.
However, you've to remember your dealing with a whole different class of person here.
