Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Agreed
or he's giving the money back?
Another Tubridy statement imminent - RTÉ resignation perhaps?
You did. You are excusing her not attending the PAC because she’s very down about what happened. Very down poor crater.
i mean she lied to her staff, the public, government but she’s a bit down atm so we’ll say nothing more.
Meant it or not that is what you’re saying and anyone else taking the mental health angle. She has refused to face the music, given a bollocks excuse and you’re sitting here lecturing us about how they’re human too.
So are all the people she lied to and screwed over. Mental health is not an excuse she should be standing with the rest of them and explaining her actions not hiding away behind feeling bad about it.
It should be put into every contract when they sign on to take the job with the wages and perks that they have to attend Oireacthas committee if required up to 6 months after they finish in the role. I took a redundancy a couple of years ago and written into the redundancy agreement that I could be called up to 3 months after I left the company for audits or other such events. Now I wasn't paid a 6 figure salary, nor was I running the company but still that was written into my redundancy and I can't see why for people in positions like Dee Forbes and others that this cannot be written into their contracts. If you want the pay and perks then you better be able to take the good with the bad.
Directors can be disqualified .. if the various investigations looking into this bring things to light, could it lead to that?
Would be the responsibility of RTE to start that ball rolling?
Oh Ryan…….
No sympathy.. complete abrogation of her role and running away from public accountability. Her actions don't match her words.
I know people who do speaking engagements all the time all over the world and the only agent they have is themselves.
if the issue if much bigger and becomes a legal problem, she wont be able to hide for long using health reasons, so there is that.
@AndrewJRenko your post attacking me has been reported I can't quote it as it is so long. Pathetic that you drag up unrelated threads in different forums about issues that affect me, my family, vulnerable people and taxpayers, in an attempt to have a go. I stand by every word in those threads. And BTW the Dublin Bus one was for nostalgia/lighthearted - extremely odd that you would try to use that one as part of your "point".
I really hate when the "mental Health" card is used like this, all it does is take from the mental health issues. As someone who has seen what mental illness can do someone up close and personal I just detest this. Usually the mental health issues people suffer are brought on by the likes of Dee Forbes constantly looking to cut wages and staff and forcing more work onto those left behind while they get their big fat salaries.
I'd say we'll John Delaney appearing in front of an Oireachtas Committee again before we ever see Dee Forbes.
I'm sure she's well stocked up on legal advice and if she can't be compelled to attend there isn't much that can be done. And despite what many politicians have been grandstanding about over the last few days, I'm sure they knew full well that Dee Forbes wouldn't be attending.
There was also blowback from the time Angela Kerins appeared before the PAC. There is a potential legal minefield to be walked into with Dee Forbes appearing in front of a pile of politicians with the white-hot atmosphere at the moment.

Didn't realise that. Fair point. She's still paying a very heavy price though with the way her name is bring dragged through the dirt publicly. She's made her bed on that. But she's human - I could understand why she wouldn't fancy appearing before the PAC and would do anything to get out of it.
An in house appointment. Lively. From bad to worse. Forbes was weak bordering on what looks like incompetent if not something more serious than that. Now we have an in house RTE man taking the big job.
Over the years, my work colleagues and I have attended various events and have been asked to chair panel debates or do fireside chats. When we asked if we get paid or expenses covered as we know a certain NKM client who is attending the same event is getting paid we don't hear back from the organisers.
Also earlier this year, there was a conference held in Dublin and I did 2 fireside chats at it. Nobody speaking at the event got paid and you will not be surprised to know that the NKM client mentioned above was at the event covering it for their day job and they did nothing else as they and NKM were not going to be paid.
Thought of this
Did she really lose her job over this? She resigned a few weeks early.
PAC should compel her to attend.
Kevin Bakhurst will replace Dee Forbes as Director General of RTÉ when her term comes to an end on 11th July this year.
Yep, you'd have to wonder if criminal charges are likely as some stage and she doesn't want to incriminate herself on the public record.
She's already made the ultimate sacrifice by resigning her position. She's lost her job over this.
The PAC would humiliate her further in front of the whole country - she'd basically become a pawn for politicians. I can understand why she wouldn't want that. That said, I really don't agree with playing the mental health card how she's done it.
Hypocrisy for what? I never brought up RTE staff, you did. I simply said that it's not inconceivable that Dee Forbes could be suffering with her mental health due to this crisis/issue. And I would have sympathy for any person in that position.
RTE staff suffering with their mental health due to this crisis? Yes, sympathy for them as well
Forbes is hiding. Obviously, under advice. Something is being hidden here. The lid is yet to blown off the whole thing. If we had a real police force and government, the offices/electronic data of the likes of Rory Coveney et al, would be commandeered and gone through with a fine tooth comb.
Also not forgetting as we have seen the pressure and stress she exerted on regular employees in RTE with the constant whining of there being no money, imposing pay cuts and the shambolic work practices she oversaw in the organisation. So sorry but I not one bit of sympathy for her. She was very well paid and for that she must answer for what has been exposed.
No why would I, I'm am also a bit perplexed that people are surprised that the likes of Luke O Neill has an agent in fact I'd say most experts be it, history, science, politics, they all get paid by the RTE for their content, did people think they were doing it for nothing?
Yeah, that's what people are saying alright. 🙄
Deflect. Deflect. Deflect.
If she has nothing to hide she should go in and explain her position.
Most people can see right through those politicians and when a straight answer is given they find it hard to grandstand. However I suspect that there really are not any straight answers to give. I suspect that they have been caught red handed doing something they shouldn't have done and she doesn't want a telling off.
Yes that's exactly what should happen.
Won't someone please think of the multi-millionaire tax avoider and hypocrite, and the incredibly well-remunerated former DG who made side deals that have brought the state broadcaster into disrepute because of their wink-wink nudge nudge slyness and complete disregard for the taxpayer from whose pockets they became wealthy in the first place?
I think it is hard for a lot of folks who are not in a comfortable position to have sympathy for someone who makes extortionate amounts of money yearly and yet preaches about the hardships of their company and staff who are also on ridiculous money, yet many have had job loses, costs going up everywhere and generally struggling to get by day to day. This kind of stuff generates a lot of resentment and anger at how flippant these people are to those not as fortunate, eg increasing tv license fees as RTE is so hard done by.
