Had a read of that judgement. If that nutjob hasn't been struck off by the Law Society after that performance, she should be. Surely she knew as a qualified solicitor going into court and repeatedly shouting a scripted mantra over people, banging things and generally behaving like a total plonker was going to result in the case being dismissed. As for the application for costs next month, I can't see that going in her favour after that behaviour.
That sort of behaviour hasn't served any of the family well to date, has it? It's scary to see how this family's religious beliefs trump everything the kids ever learned at university and in work. None of this knowledge or experience seems to have made a dent on them. My guess is that their mother is the originator of the shouting, the banging and the mantras. Because she's their leader, they follow suit.

Her behaviour was ridiculous. No doubt costs will be awarded against her. That's her €70k ex-gratia payment from Arthur Cox blown! And probably a good bit more.
Not that I expect for one second that she'll pay it.

The difference between her and Enoch is she actually has that €70k. You can be damn sure a law firm like Arthur Cox knows that the courts can send in the Sheriff, and the the Sheriff is VERY effective at collecting.
It think it definitely takes both parents. If Mr Burke wasn’t happy about it, he’d have bolted long ago. The younger kids see the behaviour of the older kids and the cycle continues.
The fact he also runs a religious bookshop is telling. I remember at the start of the Enoch trespassing saga, a journalist went into the shop and asked him a few questions and he had the gall to ask them to leave yet he was dropping sonny boy down to a school to trespass everyday.
Oh yeah, he's definitely on board. But it's Martina whose behaviour is copied by the kids.
Reading the judgement there now, and surprised to see she had arrived in Court without some of the documents she needed.
Judge noted this too, and accepted that Ms Burke "hadn't access to a printer" to print off some of the legal documents she'd need.
Seems bizarre that between the entire family of highly educated siblings ( some working in a University), and parents that run both a building business and a private school, that there was no access to a printer.
Enoch probably used all the ink in the home printer, and "forgot" to replace the empty ink cartridge. 😁
Pretty much every public library will have a printer for public use. It is no excuse.
I doubt Arthur Cox will go after her for costs. I'd say they'll write it off just to be done with her. Going after the costs might end up costing them even more money. Kind of like throwing good money after bad.
For example, if Ammi lives at home with mammy and daddy, she doesn't have a house and she mightn't have much physical assets. If she has savings and the €70k and takes that money out of her account and puts it where nobody can find it, then there's probably not much a Sheriff can do. Sheriffs are only effective if you have easily accessible assets. Hide them and it's not so easy for the Sheriff to get their hands on them.
You have never come across the Sheriff it would seem. He can enter property, seize goods and sell them and deduct his own costs.
It is a judgement, therefore the cost element is compete once the judgement is made. Once you turn it over to the Sheriff it remains there for settlement. A court appointed Sheriff collects his own fees so cost does not enter the equation and there is no statute of limitations. The Sheriff can wait 20 years and collect on inheritance if he chooses. He can take a car, he can take a TV, a Fridge, to obstruct him is a criminal offence.
A sheriff could enter Ammi's house and seize her car, TV etc., but Ammi doesn't own a house or car. Her parents do and costs wouldn't be awarded against them.
Agreed - They paid her the 70k in the hopes that she'd just f*ck off and leave them alone , but obviously that didn't work.
They'll just take the win and hope she finally goes away.
She won't of course , she will absolutely try to make some utterly asinine legal claim to try to prove that she is right and the rest of the entire world is wrong , just like everyone else in her family.
Can you explain how costs would be awarded against Ammi Burke's parents? They aren't legally responsible for her actions nor are they responsible for her debts.
