Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Yes I agree. He's not what he was and often over emotional. Would you have a link to the podcast? Thanks.
When Willie O'Reilly was head of Today FM, he said he never had any difficulties beating RTE salaries to lure talent away.
Back from my NUJ branch meeting. The consensus is we don't know what the future of RTE is, and we sent our best wishes to the RTE NUJ members who will be having a protest at lunch time tomorrow. We did all agree on one very important thing RT is toast and he won't have a media career again in Ireland or anywhere else in the world.
Why do they even need to go legal - they're getting millions from the public, every penny should be accounted for and books readily available when requested
I don’t think it’s up to the NUJ to decide Tubridys future.
Which local authority?
That's not subsistence, btw, which is what I was asking about.
I know Tubridy is the villain du jour but that doesn't mean everybody has to slaughter him in comparison with every other broadcaster alive.
They miss nothing.
i know the game very well.
it is what they report on that counts, all the rest is arse covering.
They were afraid to challenge the board on the disclosure, for whatever reason, but most likely not wanting to upset the applecart.
They want to retain their big fat fee and all those RTE perks......
It's not and this was mentioned after our meeting, not during our meeting. We all agreed there is no way back for him now.
Usually things quiten down news wise as you come to mid summer. Last week alone we've had, Michael D on Neutrality, that Conference, the Titanic Sub, Tubridy payments, the Wagner Russian military revolt.
more PR over here.
There are only 4 audit companies available to RTE.
Keep it up.
Unvouched expenses...plenty of it out there from experience. Stay with a relative up the country, claim the subsistence...misery of the highest order. Granted not everyone does it however plenty do.
Where is PK gone ? Yeats back on newwstalk, something rotten in denmark
Probably already said, but many will boycott the license fee over this.
Yep it's the best silly season in a long time

Regardless of whatever is going join RTE, having a tv without a licence is still against the law and they will easily be caught
And yet he jumped ship to join RTÉ when he got the chance.
Your post, where you said that something very important was decided, made it sound like your NUJ meeting actively decided that you would somehow block or blacklist Turbidly’s future media career.
Do you really mean that the NUJ people you spoke to are of the opinion that his future media career is untenable? As in, this is an analysis rather than an action?
I’m just looking for clarity, because these are two very different things, and your wording is somewhat ambiguous.
Ciara Doherty now on Virgin Media saying that it should be noted she is in the NK stable.
But plenty other broadcasters are currently talking about the serious issues that effect the day to day situations of the vast majority of our population, a lot of them do these broadcasts with the same sort of poor low audio fidelity you are complaining about. And they are becoming increasingly popular. Poor audio fidelity matters nothing if the actual words & events coming out the presenters mouth actually resonate with the audience. Some of them do it without any audio at all. This is the current and previous hierarchy of RTE's main problem, it is so far removed from the taxpaying audience, the ordinary people, the majority and their legitimate concerns that RTE have literally walked themselves into this total absolute $hitstorm themselves. And it is hilarious.
Ciara Doherty confirms on Virgin Media that she is also represented by Noel Kelly.
Is there no other agent in Ireland?
I don't know why we call it silly season anymore in Ireland, it really should be scalp season. The previous two summers iirc had golfgate and zapponegate. Summer is a dangerous time - the lack of other news forces the cycle to latch onto any story that it can and push it hard to fill time and inches.
FYI

Well first off do you have family working there? If answer is "Yes" just turn up at Reception.
RTE is the national broadcaster. It is entrusted by the state to provide radio and tv programs. Their is an inbuilt loyalty to the station whereby they don't need to pay presenters exorbitant amounts of money to do programs. As has been given as an example Sean O'Rourke actually built on the radio audience Pat Kenny had before he left for Newstalk.
RTE has p*ssed away millions on overpaying mediocre broadcasters on the red herring of them been irreplaceable and market rates. Every dope who sanctioned these wages needs to be held to account. That's our money they have burned on absolutely on mediocrity. No presenter should be allowed to earn more than 260k which amounts to 5k per week.
No employee at RTE should earn more than 300k. Anyone who works at RTE in a management capacity, going forward, will do so knowing that they will be required to answer for their actions and that resignations will not be an out for them to escape accountability. If found guilty of malpractice their pensions will be rendered null and void and any lumps sums given on retirement will be open to being clawed back.
I refuse to believe that RTE couldn't hire better broadcasters than Tubridy, O'Callaghan, Duffy and D'Arcy even offering less money. We are being shortchanged on honesty and output. We are a wonderful country. For a small pool of people we have some talent. We can do better.
The one that Miriam uses.
16.5% of households are breaking the law so. I can only see that figure rising.
Thank you!
I detest paying the TV Licence as I don’t watch any TV or listen to any radio (I’ve no ideological beef with RTE and am wholly ambivalent about the careers of its presenters), but on a practical level, wholesale non-payment of the Licence will hasten the introduction of the oft-mooted “household media charge” to replace it. And if Revenue get the gig to collect it rather than An Post, there’ll be no escaping it.
I’m not saying you should pay it, but doing so as a form of protest will be short lived if it’s in any way successful.
