Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

So the same auditors overlooked the under declared payment for five years in a row?
Which PR company are you working for?
It looks out of context as posts pointing out stuff you said were deleted
Auditors miss stuff all the time. The trainees doing the donkey work are underpaid and overworked.
'Top broadcasting talent' everywhere is paid top bucks. Gary Lineker gets over £1 million a year from BBC for talking about football for a couple of hours a week.
IT continuing to provide cover for the, Govmt appointed, RTE Board and Moya Doherty, the chair for the duration of this entire issue. IT are helpfully explaining the Board has:
- remuneration committee that "now" has "full oversight" on top presenterrs contracts - but no comment on Moya's admission that they were deliberately ignoring these contracts when she was Chair!?
- audit and risk committee - but fail to mention that Moya only established this committee last September just before she departed and long long after all the years of dodgy payments!?

The question I am asking is does RTÉ include presenters of independently produced TV programmes in the top ten list of highest paid: -
These are all considered by RTÉ to be some of their top stars.
If I recall the Auditors pointed it out and it was written off as something I can't remember.
Until Tubridy comes out and says he did not need that money, and he should absolutely not have taken it (just because of a contract) then the disdain and contempt for him and his reputation will only grow!!!
Look at the age profile of some of the presenters...Joe Duffy, miriam o callaghan...brian dobson.....they'll walk away claiming retirement but it'll probably be down to a massive pay cut.
That's a market size of 68 million compared to Ireland's 5 million or so.
The problem for the RTE "personalities" is that if the government decides to break up RTE into its component operations, RTE as a public service broadcaster would not be paying these salaries. Take the RTE salaries out of the market as a benchmark and the whole market for "talent" collapses.

The BBC had revenue of £5.3 billion or over 6 billion euro last year. RTE in contrast had income of under 400 million.
Different situation.
Gary Lineker could get that or more from Sky or BT sport.
It is mad money but it is market driven.
Each of these declarations is another mail in the coffin of Tubridys RTÉ career
Dunphy was on ridiculous money back then IIRC, the €30K was hardly a major setback. Yes, fair play to him proposing it, and shame on RTE for not accepting it, but he shouldn't have been anywhere near those wages in the first place.
Lineker is paid too much as well IMO, although he does present other programmes for the BBC. They also syndicate a lot of their programming worldwide, so that makes up for some of it.
Going on the latest figures there were only 2 people in the BBC who were paid more than Tubridy; Lineker on £1.35m and Zoe Ball on £980,000.
Everyone else is on max £450,000. Duffy was on €400K a couple of years ago. Madness when you think of it.

And Claire Byrne has similar. People dont seem to realise that these presenters are very popular. Personally I dont understand it but there are huge ad revenues connected to the two shows.
There was a window of a few days for him to say he was returning the money. He should have said it in his first statement.
He's missed that window and he cannot return to RTE now because of it. The BBC won't have him either.
He's ruined his career I would say.
Let’s just calm down for a moment. This man is a very good man and I have it on Vera god authority that he is very generous with his time.
up and down the country there are very well known stories of his tireless work for charities supporting St Vincent de Paul, Down syndrome, unicef, Laura lynn and He is also an ambassador for Crumlin children hospital.
all in all a very very good man.
He has done absolutely nothing wrong.
liok at all the kindness he has done
It does but what you post about Joe Duffy is hardy acceptable either
Do we know what the huge advertising revenue is for each 'star'?
Wasn't D'Arcy brought back and we were told he'd bring in big advertising money, yet his programme has often gone without a sponsor?
If you had the luxury of time and the fortune of wealth would you not try do the same?
I'm not so sure about our Claire at all. This 25k that she got for the quiz is as dodgy as fook afaic.
I think the plan (and I warned about it a year before it happened) was that RTE would farm out shows so they could pay an Indi company to produce the show - It could work like this re the recent quiz show:-
Total cost of show 100k - RTE billed for same - Recorded at the VM studios so it is completely independent of RTE
25k paid to CB by Indi Co, thus keeping the 25k paid to CB off RTE published figs
75k split between VM (for studio rental), Noel Kelly (for much needed commission), Indi production Co, misc stuff
It all goes a bit peat tong and CB decides to fess up as it was only a matter of time before it came to light
Plan was most likely the brainchild of a devious, cunning, greedy git
Never trust these feckers!
Spot on. If it was everyone it would look like the 'done thing'. But it seems he had to be proactive in looking for extras. It restores my faith in humanity a bit!
Not even a catastrophic implosion could get the air out of Tubridy's head.
In the real world he'd struggle to keep listeners at BBC Bognor Regis. There's no chance of redemption as he does not deserve it and is likely unable to show real contrition as he firmly believes his own bullshit.
Many posters believe that Tubridy's performance as a presenter is not relevant to the payment scandal.
On the contrary. He should never have been elevated in status and rated so highly for such a mediocre presenter in the first place. For him to be plucked from relative obscurity to host the Late Late was a big red flag. It suggests he was already getting special treatment or rewarded more than made sense.
If Tubridy had been a universally respected presenter who was hard working and dedicated to his job, he may have been forgiven after this scandal settles down. However, with so many feeling he should never have commanded such high earnings in the first place, let alone the extra top-ups, it will be very hard for him to just move on from this after the dust had settled.
Probably uses Tails OS (Google it)
He explained in his friday statement what he did wrong or rather erred by omission.
He had an opportunity to be very 'generous' and donate money he was paid for nothing to those charities or suitable arts fund.
A good man would see the moral obligation to do so.
Pat The Squatter Kenny was on nearly a million at one stage.
👏👏👏
