Man Vs ManUre until 9/05/23
Will it definitely be Sat?
No idea but I would hope we would be the earlier of the double header.
Where was Joyce after the match. I didn't see an interview.
I'd say almost certainly the 2nd game on whichever day we're on
There is absolutely no way we should agree to Saturday
has to be Sunday
This post hasn't aged very well.
Cillian,Paddy,Carr were putting everything up on the wind without even looking.
This team deserves criticism from time to time but some people would want to get a grip and have a small bit of faith.
Out making Comer do sprints I'd say.
Didn’t see it. Am wondering which of the refereeing decisions he would have felt went against them today, he usually lists them in his post match interviews.
Was at the game, thought we were decent enough bar the couple of bad misses at the end
Not to take away from a brilliant move but the keeper.literally dived out of the way
Tbh I've made plenty of excuses for Mayo teams over the years and defended them from criticism. I didn't think it was a great performance despite the win and I'm not confident about further games. I think we've big personnel issues around the middle and our shooting often isn't great. I don't think it's either controversial nor unfair to say that. Happy to be proved wrong of course.
Pearse is a larger pitch than Croker
Management made HUGE calls.today, dropping Ruane and Loftus was ballsy. Early subs too, great to see
I still think or number 6 is a problem its definitely not loftus
There was an interview on RTE 1 wireless before six, he threw his freetaker under the bus this time
Not disagreeing with you,a lot to work on.
Great to see McStay acknowledge that in his selections, would I be right in saying Mattie has never been dropped in his entire career for Mayo?
Some of the mental fragility amongst Mayo supporters bothers me though and your post at ht was a good example. It wasn't looking good but we had the gale force wind and I fully expected to put balls up on it and make it count, which we did.Now in fairness I'd have fully expected us to do that in lots of games down the 40 years I've been following Mayo and they didn't.
But at ht when it's in the melting pot I have much more time for lads who can see the solutions rather than kicking the dirt and saying we're bet.
No offence,I know you're a decent poster.
Amongst others . Not a great trait in a manager.
an excellent day at the office for the management team
Maybe Mcbrien gave him the eyes …..
O hara was sick macstay said on off the ball

Must have been some eyes
I dunno G&R, wait until you see it back, he gave the keeper the eyes and made him go the wrong way.
Eh, goalie thought it was going to his left but he went to the goalies right - madness....
I dont know how nearly half an hour scoreless at intercounty level could be deemed decent. Got away with it big time
Not a great look for O'Donoghue. He won't have benefit of the doubt in the next game
Wind was vicious. That first shot from Conroy, everyone was out of their seat, drops short
They beat one of the best teams in the country ,playng very poor and missing a few players .Imo Mayo have every chance of going all the way ,there not a patch on the great team from a few years ago but that does not mean they cant get over the line this year
It's been said a few times here but the wind was absolutely vicious. Maybe it wasn't as obvious on TV but it really effected both teams. Galway had similar issues in the second half.
We started well outta the traps and I genuinely think once the effort needed to score was determined (the shooting circle was well in) we literally slowed the game down where we could and wasted time in order to limit their opportunities with the wind. Galway should have been more up at HT but they weren't and lost Comer, who had the beating of his marker but they didn't make enough hay from it.
Second half we came outta the traps and put in some great scores with the wind.
Galways injuries eventually caught up with them and their key player having a major dip in form since last year (Walsh) was hard to recover from. They had a great year last year but came out the right side of injuries and the draw.
There's serious potential with Mayo as there is every year and at the same time we don't know where we are at really after losing to Cork and Roscommon.
The more the dust settles on that game the more I think that Galway fluffed it more than Mayo won it. Losing Comer was a big blow to them but an even bigger blow was Walsh not being able to convert, as well as the number of wides they had.
Galway should have been out the gap at half time but Comer blasting the ball straight at Reape and then then Walsh having a meltdown under a little pressure. in the first half Galway scored 8 from 15 attempts in the first half, scoring 5 from 10 from play, and 3 from 5 placed balls. At least 2 of the frees he missed were meat and drink to a good free taker.
Add to that they dominated midfield, and our kickouts, but couldn't make the significant opportunities that were presented to them count on the scoreboard.
We certainly had a very large slice of luck with all of that. On the positives Callinan kept Walsh scoreless from play, McBrien took what was probably our only goal chance, and for a change, we were accurate. Sure we had 5 wides in the first half against the gale, but we had only the 1 from play and 1 45 going astray in the second.
We're not usually the ones to be saying that after a game. But I'll take it, we're still in the championship for now, and that's what counts.
