Good to see Cillian and Rochford have quickly got over their falling out.
This makes alot of sense. You get the hard running and tackling of both. Add to this their attacking ability and they are a better option than Coen who plays it safe always. His stats must be unreal for not giving away the ball as it always go sideways or back, but if you put a stat on attacking, then it is different.
We have to take risks in order to win and this is probably a good calculated risk.
You really have it in for Coen. It's not his primary job, but he has a more than decent scoring record (including 2 all Ireland finals).
Am I right in saying, for all their attacking ability, O'Hora and Hession have scored 1 point in championship football between them?
I am going on what I see. I don't have it in for him. I am just saying what I have seen for years. He is a very good man marking and I will give him this. If you think guys like that will win the big prize then forget about it. He offers little to nothing attacking wise. Even if you read Billy Paddens column this week, he talks about attacking threats from half back.
Its not about scoring but attacking. The fowards can do the scoring but we need half backs to attack.
Was all resolved late last night, clear the air talks held in Islandeady chaired by Enda Kenny & Louis Walsh
Funnily enough Coen was on the bench for the last 15 minutes vs Cork. Didn't improve the team much to say the least.
Maybe you should have a better look then.
As another poster pointed out Coen (who wouldn't be considered a free scoring hb) does quite well on the scoring front and has more than O Hora and Hession combined.
I really wish when somebody is wrong about something and it's pointed out and backed up with facts that they'd be big enough to acknowledge that.
He's not in the team to be rampaging up the pitch,he stays back and minds the house.
Coen starts all day for Mayo (though not in midfield I hope)
If you can't see that I don't think you know a lot about football.
Galway have Tierney and Cooke in the half forward line. Stephen Coen has to start in the half back line to match up with their height. Paddy D and him nullifying those 2 in the league final was a big reason for us winning.
Anyone think the weather might play a role? Meant to be a wet day. Obviously the weather is the same for both teams, but a wet day probably means slower football that favours defenders. Not sure that this team has any ideas when it comes to that type of football.
Armagh have basically shown us how to beat Galway. Fast ball into the forwards. Although after watching last Sunday I don't think we know what fast ball is.
I logged into Ticketmaster there and says that tickets are not available. Maybe it’s just that it’s from my phone. I did have some issue like this before. And then was ok from my laptop. Anyone see “not available” on it.
if not available on Ticketmaster, anyone got a spare ticket to sell?
Yeah, showing as sold out - what's the capacity of Salthill? 25k?
Hi Irishgeo - I sent you a PM earlier re the ticket. If you get a chance to see it, that would be great. I am started to get a little paniky that no more tickets on sale for this. Thanks.
@Gaelictickets on twitter is helping people sell on spare tickets. You may get lucky if you message them.
Cool. THanks. Will try that. I'm sure something will show up in the next 24 hours. Can't be that hard to get a ticket.
If anyone has a spare, I would be grateful.
Any parking recommendations?
One of the Galway lads posted something in response to a question on the Galway thread earlier in the week
Not massively confident today tbh, I find it hard to see us winning. Big improvements needed all over the pitch and a bit of luck too.
Maigh Eo abu
I've a stand ticket if you need it PM me
Sorry,ticket gone now.
Huge pressure on both teams today, so it depends on who handles it better ..
This day last week both teams thought they'd be kicking back watching some football on the TV today, so whoever is knocked out at 5pm their season will deemed a failure given the great position they had previously put themselves in.
Avoid in front of the Galway goal. Heard rumours there might be a bus or two parked there today.
On the subject of goals - we've missed a lot in our games so far, 2 early chances against roscommon, 3-4 against kerry and at least one in each of the last two games. We might not get many chances today so we'd need to take anything that comes
A lot of system and personnel problems all over the pitch imo. Plus psychologically last week was a big setback.
Lots of changes to the starting line up. In- Jason D, Kevin Mc, Eoghan MacL, Tommy C,
out go Matty, Conor L, Padraig O’H and James Carr….
Well, Mcstay is rolling the dice anyway!!!
Cleaned out at midfield.
Terrible, no idea of how to work a score and when they do shoot it's a wide.
Can't see them winning this even with a strong breeze in the second half. Galway are going to park the bus.
5 points up, Galway will just play keep ball in the second half.
