Oh I'd wager the fun is just starting.
Assuming for a second this is accurate what kind of deal has been made to stop Wagner marching on Moscow?
yeah stop moving 'around russia,' head straight for moscow. Good plan
The difference may be that Prigozhin will not have the same capabilities that Putin had back in Feb 22. Economically, he's far from as healthy as he was back then, militarily his mobilization's are not as successful either, when you have to get your recruits from prisons, you have problems, and he has problems replacing destroyed tanks, planes, munitions etc. If he ( Prigozhin ) does take power, for sure it will not bode well for Ukraine, but he may well decide to pull back, regroup and rebuild, and then attack again when he's good and ready. And then it will depend on what Ukraine can achieve in that time of reprieve. For sure, they will be far better than they were in Feb '22. Question is will it be enough to deter Prigozhin?
Perhaps trying to make a deal for immunity from being handed over to the Hague, but what if Prigozhin sells him out.?I would love to hear an interview with the Russian ambassador to Ireland this evening to get his thoughts on all of this!
Sky reporting the same
Looks like the fun is over
I'd find this v hard to believe i.e. having got near to Moscow the Wagner group decide to make peace
Times radio saying that there had been reports that Ukrainian intelligence had been in contact with Wagner in recent weeks….
Does anyone remember this? It kind of neatly sums it all up for me as to why this point has been reached, if this is infact the end of Putin.
My gut is telling me that this might all come to a head tonight. It doesn’t look like there is much of a will to halt Wagner, and by morning we might see them at the Kremlin.
But if that happens, where will Putin be? Dead? Making a stand in a bunker somewhere, or pulling a Gaddafi and setting up a new capital somewhere else?
No 3, 😂😂😂 its very true Xi Jinping dosnt have same ring
Belarus might go as well….
I started drinking very early today and I feel like I have a very good excuse to do so.
it’s not every day that russia collapses
Going to be a long night tonight. Between Wagner gains and rumoured Ukrainian attacks.
Never expected to wake up to this. Not a clue to what to make of it either. Sit back and watch it unfold.
Also if you're gonna post at least check the current and previous page. The amount of the same tweets posted literally 4 posts after it was already posted is insane.
Oh i know but when you have nukes in the middle of this and Russia tearing itself apart. Putin is after making a big mistake with starting this war, lots dead and for what meagre gains? going to be interested the next couple of hours and days for sure.
Would ya stop. They can't control the massive land they already have.
Besides, no part of China that directly borders Russia is particularly significant, strategically.
If anyone in the Chinese politburo has a modicum of sense, they'll be right now figuring out how they can be the peacemaker here, to lead and to secure the nukes and stop the fighting in Russia as well as Ukraine. The diplomatic coup is there for them if they want it.
Not to mention all those African nations in Russia's orbit, who are likely about to see their benefactor evaporate. For instance, I'd say the South African government feel a little queasy today.
What we really need is a live cam of the loo-roll section of a few typical Moscow supermarkets - only then will we be able to accurately determine the current threat level 😛
Interesting theory from this guy, but he admits further down that it is very speculative and that he can't be sure of anything. The parallels with July 20th, 1944 are certainly intriguing though (Stauffenberg trying to kill Hitler in the middle of a war that is going badly).
Things really taking a nosedive from a Russian pov
Apparently "Mr SS tattoo" himself, Utkin, is leading the Wagner charge to Moscow. But as usual, this is happening in Russia, little can be verified. Most sources on anything appear to be panicked Ru mil bloggers
Putin made the classic error: attempting a land war with Russia.
Could see China taking a chunk of Russia for 'security reasons'.
I have three thoughts.
1) Not surprised that roadblocks etc have been unwilling to engage a brigade sized (at least) force rolling up on them. It would be suicide. The logical thing to do is to mass a larger coherent force, and that takes time, indicating that if there is to be a point of resistance, it must inevitably be closer to Moscow. The troops will be more inclined to engage if they think they can win.
2) I'm not sure that even if Prigozhin manages a complete coup that the outcome is much better for Ukraine in the long term. Recent statements by him about the original causes of the invasion being false notwithstanding, I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him, and he seems a rather large lad and I'm not known for upper body strength.
3) What's the fellow running the Darth Putin account going to do if Actual Putin is removed?
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
Russian channels are reporting that Ukrainian units have crossed the Dnipro river and fights are ongoing near the destroyed Antonivskyi bridge.
"The enemy has already transferred 3 tanks with the help of a ferry."
How true this- I don't think we will know for now. Could just be Panic after some of the videos Ukraine released.
Plane-trackers have tracked two of his planes leaving to St Petersburg, so it's possible he's left Moscow.
But it has been speculated from day one of the war that Russia could collapse from within. The West have factored this in throughout - it's not an unexpected development by any means.
Weren’t the South Africans cozy with him? Maybe Cuba.
And his dumb followers will lap it up
