They can bomb the crap out of him with air assets, sacrifice Rostov, pin him down there. Also, how is Prigozhin going to pay his men now? They are mercenaries after all. I am sure he has loyalists but beyond that I wonder how many still stick with him through this.
I have the popcorn out of course, but I don't see how he makes it through the weekend. However, if this can somehow last, every day this goes on is gold, Rostov is a key military hub.
If the Ukrainians have sleeper cells in Moscow surely this is the time to engage them
When those rebels in Belgorod caused trouble a couple of weeks ago, there was similar speculation that dealing with them would impact Russia's ability to continue prosecuting the SMO. It didn't, really. A lot of that was probably down to the size of the rebel force - it's going to be relatively easy to put down a group with a few APCs and a tank - but I don't think 25,000 Wagnerites is going to be enough to mount a political overthrow by itself, and even if Putin does have to order some military forces back, he has plenty who are not currently holding the front line to do it with.
But that all assumes that Putin retains the loyalty of all of the necessary people to successfully crush Prigozhin's rebellion. It's looking like he will, but hopefully (if not successful for Wagner) this becomes just one incident in a series of internal crises that eventually unseats Putin and brings Russia on a path back to relative normalcy.
he will have no choice but to get rid of putin if he gets that far
as to what prigozhin would do in ukraine if he took power in russia is anyone's guess .. end the war as there was no justification for it or double down is hard to know
putin has been a survivor the last 20+ years, has the russian army and nuclear codes for now so one would imagine he could deal with a mere band of 25,000 escaped criminals but stranger things have happened...
If only we could get Georgia to move on South Ossetia and Moldova on transistria (unlikely next to no military) the whole powder keg could go up
So Zelensky then?
(hopefully)
It will be interesting to see this play out.
I would expect a media blackout in Russia by the end of the day.
Apparently one of the key bridges south of Moscow has been closed
It would also be interesting to see how Russian civilians react to this.
Locals making the most of it anyway
Could be propaganda, but then again.....we are living in strange times...
plane shot down
Claims they've seized an airfield.
Could really help the Wagner push their way to Moscow. (do they have trained and willing pilots?)
First I have heard that they are bypassing Voronezh. I guess the things of value (the airfield) are not in the city itself
Blyatkrieg
No chance whatsoever. Putin has miscalculated and is fooked.
I am glad they are enjoying the show:
Ideal situation is Russia pull out of Ukraine and this drags on endlessly.
For relative stability, Putin needs to stay in power. Russia won’t be a friend to the West until there’s a democracy.
Appear Wagner have shot down a Russian AN-26
Just realised that it's the 24th today. That makes it 16 months to the day since the full scale invasion began.
The Russians do love their numerology!
I wonder did the American get to Prigozhin and influence him to mutiny. I know in world war 2, there was a lot of leaning on influencing people to double cross and with today's media we are just seeing the same except in real time.
A lot has changed in 16 months!
It's been claimed that putin left Moscow for his residence in novo ogarevo early this morning.....
So much for 3 days to Kiev
So which group of rapists are you supporting today timmy ?
Also now's the chance for Putin to use his Nuclear Warheads as the motherland is under attack...
No. This is literally the guy who was responsible for undermining the USA's 2016 election with his troll farms. He influences Americans, not the other way round.
More likely that he's after getting high on his own supply.
They can go south east via the Caspian Sea, over Georgia (Still open to RU aviation) and then they’re in Turkish airspace. It’s a detour, but not as bad as going via the Stans
Question on this. How do we count the Russian war dead now, is it a separate list for the Coup/Civil war casualties or what?
He seems quite relaxed
On Kadyrov:
God I'd love to see battles between Chechens and Wagnerites!
