Nothing short of mental, Surovikin, who was top Vatnik in Ukraine for a few months, asking Wagner to stop their convoys, that Russian forces are fighting to the death against a far better army and not to split their own side during this difficult time for the country.
He wouldn't be coming out with this unless he was told to by people above who are concerned that this is more than a stunt.
He’s an evil man but he’s great entertainment
Is there much left of wagner? How many troops?
He's a messy b1tch. Loves the drama! He'll have to go out with a bang.
No, definitely not a ruse now.
You don't wheel out your top general and have him ask insurrectionists to lay down their arms.
I think this is real. I am just praying someone has an itchy trigger finger.
Army on the streets of Moscow:
Indeed
I think it reeks of desperation now. Why would you have your top commanders on tv telling mercs to stand down, unless their was a genuine threat and youre not sure you have the forces left to stop it.
Is Prigozhin trying to pull a Legate Damar or something?
Shocking news,
Ukraine has run out of popcorn.
As I said, Ukraine obliterated them in Bakhmut.
Seemed to have done Putin a favour as he knew what was coming.
Did Russia give Wagner enough to keep them bogged down in Bakhmut?
Its like a game of chess.
Regimes have sometimes been toppled by something that initially seemed innocuous, but suddenly and rapidly spiralled out of their control (look at Ceausescu's demise in Romania for example). I'd say the Kremlin are in for a sleepless couple of days.
They have somewhere between 5000-7000 men left in Ukraine
Another Wagner response to the General's videos
Dramatic stuff. As othersd said, could be anything... could be a pretext for bringing in martial law/full mobilization?
Putin clearly tried to take him out with the missile attack, now he's going to try take Putin out .
Is Putin dead yet?
Prigozhin claims he has 25,000 men at his disposal. He also claimed 32000 convicts returned to Russia after their six months stint in the Donbas was up. I would be wary of believing anything that comes out of his mouth.
As I pointed out, Surovikin was holding a sub-machine gun (!), the other general was twiddling his thumbs looking very nervous for a general.
Prigozhin has zero chance of inflicting regime change, or anything like that, but could he weaken the Russian position in Ukraine? I think this is what the Russian army fear and are trying to stop.
Smoke filled back rooms with the odd couple shot in the head, a few skirmishes, either Prig. has enough army backing to make this a reasonable walk through or Wagner comes to a crashing crescendo in a few days.
I mean would we see this potential coup if Wagner were well supplied and healthy? Doubt they would have the motivation for it.
Wagner's doing WHAT
Who are the sides this time? Putin is the Czar and Wagner are the people? If Prigozhin disposed Putin (or whoever they are trying to dispose), then what happens?
Happy to hear if anyone has good ideas, obviously something is up - but what exactly?
I read that Prigozhin held a massive recruitment drive in Russia lately posting over 400k leaflets to households. Maybe he hopes together with the hacking of the tv channel might activate some kind of fighting spirit in supressed pissed off Russians
He might be the point man for a faction of the security forces. That's their fear I reckon.
Interesting on the Nexta twitter feed. They are saying that the Prigozhin audios were done hours ago according to the meta data, and was rumoured to have been in St Peterburg earlier.
When did the Russians acknowledge and broadcast internal issues, save for Prigozhin? When did a leading commander of the Russian army highlight on TV, the actions of one of the arms of the military's actions benefiting the enemy? Even the hacking of the TV stations seems to have been done very quickly and with very little physical proof that Prigozhin actually said those things, visual confirmation of the convey...Seems Russian orchestrated to either remove Prigozhin or to get the enemy out in the open
Putin is more discrete in removing threats, I smell a rat
Americans are now interested in whats going on
“This is real,” said the official. (once again though, the 'official' is not named.
There was 2 iirc. Democratic supporters took over first but didn't hold elections and stayed in the war. Then the communists took over in October and oddly held elections that were seemingly fair* which they promptly ignored when they lost and took power via the military again.
*I assume fair since they lost and I presume they could have fixed it properly. Seems they overestimated their support in the country.
I can only hope this ends with a similar retreat from the current war like how they left ww1 after 1917.
When were we not?
Interesting, but tbf, hes probably a bit busy at the moment.
