Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

He had a way of cutting through the sh*te like no other.
I do indeed.
What in legal terms was not disclosed, or not reported?
Oh there’s a few things that while they might not bring Tubs down, they would certainly change peoples opinions of him and I’ve been waiting for even one of those to become public. I didn’t think it would be something as grubby as money however.

It was outside the accounting function of the RTE finance department. Not my words, Tubridy's.
Who do you reckon orchestrated the distraction?
At times like this you'd miss Vincent Browne. 😁
as Tubs appears to be so upset and mortified about these "over-payments", then why doesn't he donate some/all of it to childline or some other worthy charity. after all he never seem to stop prattling on about these charaties during his perennial toy show extravaganza he inflicts on the Nation each Christmas? surely that would be the noble thing to do? dig deep and all that ...
True, and the “Forum” on neutrality…
All this just strikes me as a convenient distraction from the other far more serious controversies involving the Government - the "Hate speech" bill passing the Seanad and the ongoing immigration "strategy" to name but two.
Tubridy and the rest of the "RTE stars" are massively overpaid anyway. RTE is a jobs programme for the "luvvies". Is anyone really surprised by this? Does anyone really think anything of real consequence will happen??
It's a distraction tactic, that's all.
Often wondered how these people (and he is not alone) suddenly appear on our screens/on radio to be revered and paid handsomely by us, and then we HAVE to like them and think they are the best thing since sliced Brennans bread.
It's as if a humungous salary means they must be great or something. Look around at the calibre of all the +200k "stars", are they all glistening wonders?
I really would hate to be a TV licence inspector right now ... the abuse they will be getting ..
A case like this is exactly why this media licence should not come in.
Scrap the lot keep RTE1 and the 3 most popular radio stations.
Scrap the bottom of the barell box ticking “entertainment”
Scrap the obscene salaries.
They are not fit for purpose.
Any understanding of what fraud by non-disclosure is? Or failure to report?
€22,954,000 spent on "Other personnel-related costs (including contractors)" in 2020. Down from €30,317,000 in 2019.
Agreed. RTE Executive alone had the obligation to publish salaries and they lied to us for seven years. RTE Board did not notice a thing - but the Chair did somehow feel the need to finally establish, after 8 years in situ, an Audit & Risk Committee on her last day in office at end last year. But somehow our media is circling Tubs and Terry Prone has already been sent out in attack dog mode. This is going to be great!
Spot on!
Deloitte audited their 2020 accounts

With all the people Noel Kelly has on his books in RTE I'd say it's tip of the iceberg.
He went along with RTE's dishonest declaration of his earnings, right? I'm going to question you now because I dislike posts with cross examination. I'm not assuming the position of someone in the dock.
I'd have RTE as an actual PSB, not a commercial entity (there's already a commercial set of tv channels) and I don't think a new paired down RTE actually being a PSB isn't necessarily 'highbrow', it's just a public service not a money chasing pit for 'stars' and z-listers.
As you mention, licence fee is going to go anyway replaced by an at source broadcast media payment - the trouble with any of this is how do we ensure they get funded correctly/zero interference and with none of the typical Irish nonsense that led RTE to today.
The disclosures of presenters pay have zero to do with the companies act........
Shouldn't they have been picked up by the auditors, unless of course rte have the same auditors as Anglo.
Yes. Have you been following this at all or are you just trolling in the hope of deflecting?
Anyone else not surprised at all by this coming out about Tubridy? He’s blatantly fake, totally disingenuous and terrible at the holier than thou stuff he likes to purport himself to be. A smarmy, arrogant, pompous, slimy and talentless boot licker. A person like that will get found out eventually for one thing or another, what’s really surprising is how long it took for something to come out about him.
He announced he was taking a pay cut because he was so traumatised by inequality and poverty, he was so moved he pleaded with everyone to dig deep for charity etc.
His publicy declared salary appeared to be reduced, but what was taken by one hand was given back to him by the other.
He didn't get a reduction in his overall renumeration, he lied. And that lie was paid for by taxpayers' money.
If you don't have a problem with that you would surely be ok with the judiciary, politicians and all civil and public sector workers getting undeclared renumeration and backhanders I presume?
What is this "invite" nonsense. The organisation relies on state funding. The executive board should be told to present themselves at 9am Monday morning and to clear their schedule for the day, to answer any and all questions from the PAC, or no further funding will be provided meaning their own salaries will go unpaid.
And again, and it seems you find this difficult to understand but there are two parties to this contract:
So yes, he is a party to it and has brought the company into disrepute.
The RTE board said yesterday they had no clue about these payments.
Even Tubridy admitted they were outside the accounting function.
They were off the books. Its been repeatedly said the finance department had no control over the payments. There is no way they could be included in published accounts. Off the books transactions like this would stand out like a sore thumb in published accounts.
