RTE would be better to get rid of the dead wood like 2FM, concentrate on what they should provide....invest more into sports like GAA and rugby. No idea why we cant see more GAA games on RTE and I know GAA Go out now but why did we need that?
Also they should have AIL/Schools cup in rugby terms available to the nation. Enough of buying shite shows from across the World everyone has watched on Sky/Netflix 2 years beforehand
We have to remember that people like my parents watch a hell of a lot of RTE, they dont watch the imported TV shows but the home content. More of that.

Tubridy earlier this year said he would love to go into podcasting. As a podcaster I can safely say, who is going to sponsor the podcast as getting sponsorship is not easy and also who is going to listen to his podcast? There are new podcasts being launched every week and there is no way in hell that I would launch one now. Thankfully I launched my podcast 7 years ago before podcasts had a renaissance.
One thing is for certain. We'll have an episode of Scannal on this!

Presumably, if no audit took place, the payments would have continued with Tubs still hosting. Once the audit was happening the writing was on the wall and he decided to step down because he was going to get shoved once this came to light.
The best thing RTE could do now is embrace AI technology. Getting a few AI robots presenting with AltGPT scripts and responses would be an improvement on the current output from humans. Minimal costs, and could be very entertaining indeed!

without knowing how RTE represented this in their accounts you cant really make that assertion,
if they have correctly recorded it as a cost and just not disclosed in the voluntary disclosure of presenter salaries then its not a matter for them at all.
Any mention of him returning the money or giving it to charity?
All in costs for someone senior will be around 25% on top of the salary, obviously if you can bring the salary down as you suggest its more feasible.

Perhaps it';s time for RTE to be decentralized to Cork or Galway? Dublin doesn't really suit the country and Dubliners don't watch RTE anyway.
Moya Doherty out proclaiming her innocence. Isn't it strange though that her final act as Chair was to establish an Audit & Risk Committee in Sep '22. Amazing coincidence that dear old Moya saw no need for A&R for 8 FULL years before then?! Just look at all these decent honest people working for the public ;-)

I don't get the Joe Duffy concept at all. Someone paid very highly by RTE to listen to sob stories. He made money out of 'bukes' like The Chilldren of the Troubles and The Children of 1916. He's not a historian and it was easy money and fake sadness for the childer. In what country in the world would an agony aunt be constantly in the top national broadcaster earners.
