Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Steven Toast seems to have sensed a lot of this very early on. Fair play to his judgement.
Barter transactions are meant to be declared for VAT purposes to the best of my knowledge. Revenue should have a look here to see what was happening. However Revenue don't seem to be overly concerned about tax affairs at RTE seeing as they never deemed Ryan, Joe and the rest to be employees and allowed them to declare their income through their independent companies.
This thread is about hidden payment by RTE, hidden from public accounts. As to Tubridy’s quality as a presenter my own personal al opinion is that he lacks ability & commitment re the remit he was handed, an opinion I hear a lot, but it is just what it is, opinion.
You’re mixing up internal and external audits
Could RTE actually collapse..
Thought she took her annual leave had her drinks party and left ?
Board member went onto 6.1 News last night and left out this important information that her boss had been suspended the day before.
Why didn't she tell us this?
Does anyone know how much of the income he gets from rte goes to him and how much is taken up by nk or does he have someone else that does his finances etc. but hopefully that’s the end of nk in Irish media. They seem to have a monopoly on things
I think the board are sending a signal to the public here - letting her play out the last few weeks would have been weaker from them IMO.
This is incredible to me too. Also on PT last night they said they'd reached out to the DG to appear but had received no reply. Who in RTE knew that she was suspended on Wednesday and why was it not announced at the time? WTF is going on at RTE?
Is this suspension a way out from making public comment.
What more is to come out about this. RTE keep lying.
Might be hard to square away a 150k “asset” aka as a debit on a balance sheet.
Maybe it became an issue as the account would normally be clear at year end ?
Sounds like a contra account, gone bad.
Hopefully the new director General is allowed to sort this mess of an organisation out.
An annual budget given, no tax payer bailouts.
Sell the prime land in D4 and set up a new operation elsewhere in the country.
"Contractors" put on the books as employees or told to ship out.
Benchmarked salaries for the bang average presenters, no more stupid money being tossed around.
And that would just be week 1.
Ah, hello???
Spoofer accounts are like Dublin Bus. You could be waiting ages for them to post and then 3 come along at the same time.
How do you know so much about my ban?
you do realise that if the contractors were on the book as employees that it would cost a lot more than the current arrangement (assuming salaries are the same)
Exactly, how do you suspend someone on annual leave with no remaining employment with an organisation?
Absolutely. Widespread reform. Sell up and move to Blanch or Tallaght. Salaries capped at 200 grand.
RTE keep lying over and over again. The whole senior management need to be sacked.
Hello!!
And as employees they would have to retire at 65…….no more talk to Joe.
Every cloud really does have a silver lining 🤣🤣
I'm lost for words with all this sh**e. Did anyone think that Tubridy's "farewell" LLS was all very low key as well - apparently he didn't want a big fussy affair.....wonder why - he had to have known what was going on.

Athlone is the right spot, middle of country so everyone can get easy access
It was vomit inducing the final show. A whole show created to say "LOOK AT ME"
Only someone would Tubridy would want it
A nothingburger that's now got the DG suspended. Lol.
RTE too good to move out of D4. This story will put manners on them.
There’s one comical aspect of this , the sponsor was offered a deal involving having tubridy for promotional appearances and they pulled out at the first opportunity
They weren't able to square it because in a barter account there needs to be something on the other side to balance the books. Without the credit for the commercial partner on the other side, the account was out.
The problem I have with this is that organisations generally use contractors as it suits the organisation in respect to keeping official headcounts down, not having to pay for holidays, sick leave, pension payments and primarily the fact that they can generally very easily let contractors go without any redundancy.
You'd find that contractors were generally paid more than permanent staff that were on the books because they wouldn't have security of tenure, pensions, paid leave and all that goes with a permanent gig so I don't buy that these contracts actually save the organisation money or are any more efficient than other methods of payment.
In the instance of RTE, to me it look as if the organisation gets absolutely NO benefit from using contract workers. They rarely let contracted staff go (at the level we are talking about), there is no accountability whatsoever. The contracts SUIT those getting them but not the organisation - it really is a a cosey cartell.
