Bookmark this page, there's 4 Parkruns off this weekend.
And I made a mistake about the 9am ferry from Doolin. It's going to Inis Mór not Meann so if you want to use it for the Parkrun, you'll have to jump and swim for it.
Great turnout of 92 at the first event at Mallow Castle junior parkrun on Sun.
In case it's useful to anyone else there's also a Strava group with updates

My son asked me this morning if anyone had done 1,000 parkruns. I told him No given that October 2004 until now did not have enough Saturdays even with double events covid would have ensured no one was at 1,000.
Does anyone know who has run the most parkruns? I have seen a few 500 tops but they were all english people. I know a couple of Irish people with 400+ but again since Malahide only started in 2012 there wouldn't seem to have been enough Saturdays to allow a 500 (due to covid) but it might be getting close.
I'd say one of the Malahide regulars will be the first to reach 500 here. There is one who has done all the ones in the Republic and a few abroad. She is on 458 at the moment. She gives back a lot, though.
Darren Wood A490 has 853 parkruns and is the runniest parkrunner.
New WR today in Edinburgh.
I know her well 😉
And he didn't bother turning up for week one as although he knew about it he figured it wouldn't last.
He must have heard that it's not cool to attend inaugurals.
Marley park - Longitude
Donabate - Flavours of fingal
Russborough - Kaleidoscope
all cancelled tomorrow.
Hi guys. I've done progression parkrun, and heard there's a prison one in northern Ireland that civvies can apply to run. Anyone know the name of it? Can't find much by searching.
May not be open to civilians, but the prison in Derry seems to have such a parkrun.
Magilligan prisoners to get their own parkrun - The Irish News
Old article but seems to be still, er, running each week.
There used to be one at the prison at Blacklion in Cavan, but it has since stopped. There is also a closed event at The Glen in County Wicklow. It is not at a prison but a rehab center, hence being a closed event. There is talk of a new event starting at a prison in Cork, not sure when though
Is that Bonnan Bui you are talking about? I got an email earlier this year asking if I wanted to do it (applied pre covid). it was too much effort so I didn't bother in the end.
Progression was a good one to do. Real eye opener talking to some of the inmates. It definitely gave me a different perspective on things.
That's the one, couldn't remember the name. It has only ceased recently. Was discussing going with the team but was then told it was closing down
I've done the Mountjoy progressive parkrun, I didn't know that they were others, indeed I didn't know about the progressive bar word of mouth. Is there a list of similar parkruns, that are available to members of the public to do.
Just scrolling around the Parkrun world map as you do and I'm wondering if anyone has ever done the Nobles Parkrun on the Isle of Mann and is it worth a weekend trip?
Also any of the Scottish islands and the two channel Isles look interesting trips.
How do you do the progression parkrun in Mountjoy?
There's probably at least two distinct answers to this and I'm only familiar with one, have a look at this page https://www.parkrun.ie/progression/ and email the address listed. I was on the list to do in Aug 2020 (having emailed them back in Dec 2019) but didn't happen as parkruns were all postponed at that time due to covid.
As said above, email progressive@parkrun.com listing names, DOB and parkrun numbers of those who are interesting in doing the run. Individual applicants probably have a better chance of getting in quicker. There were 4 of us running and we were waiting over 6 months, we got upped the list by a month, as another group dropped out.
You'll be told to bring along picture ID and you can't bring anything in with you, bar your parkrun barcode, and no GPS watch, so no recording your run by watch.
It's well worth doing it for the experience.
But how will it get on strava?
It won't
What's the point of doing a run if none of my 7 strava followers can't see it?!?!
7? Oooooh Mr popularity
I've been really working on getting my Strava followers up. Hoping once I get 10 or so, I will be able to get sponsored and quit the day job. Also, don't forget to subscribe and if you like this video remember to smash that like button and share.
Hardly worth the effort :)
5k parkrunner app has removed the primes, nelson and Fibonacci achievements.
Felt it was putting too much pressure on smaller parkruns when these came up
The what now?
