I do. We’re getting the letters through the post saying our tv licence has expired. We also get letters in the post every month showing our mortgage is increasing. Utilities, food, petrol, all taking a huge chunk of a very hard earned weekly income.
I haven’t even bothered opening the last tv licence letter but I know that it’s got a paragraph or two threatening me with legal action if we don’t pay. I’m loathed to pay over money to an institution that’s shown itself to have serious financial irregularities and that’s just for one employee! Why should I be forced to pay for this?

Just because you didn’t claim every expense as a contractor doesn’t mean Turdriddy doesn’t. And you say you worked as a contractor.
Were you the owner of the company you were contracting for? I suspect not. There’s a difference in being a contractor working for a company and being a contractor who OWNS the company. Your entitlements differ depending on which you are.
Tubridy’s entitlements as a director are different to those of an employee, esp. re. Dividends.

Ryan Tubridy went public about taking cuts, looking for donations to charities etc when in fact he was taking backhanders from RTE to ensure he wasnt actually getting cut at all....
Its Charlie Haughey level stuff....off buying silk shirts for 16k while telling people to tighten their belts......

Yes, I absolutely do believe that he reads the RTE annual report, and was aware that the figures widely quoted in the media didn't actually represent his full pay, and deliberately chose to remain silent on it. It's stretching credulity to think otherwise.

He was working for the state broadcaster, he was the highest paid person in an organisation and was hiding payments so it wasn't shown up on the reported earning.
Also during this period the organisation he worked for was asking people to take pay cuts, telling people they had to leave their jobs. Going to the government begging for more money.
Try and down play it all you want but this is serious and has huge question marks over the state broadcaster. The question many will ask is how many others got these payments? plus how long is this type of dodgy transaction going on?
Schofield has nothing to do with this situation or nothing to do with RTE.

The 'book worm' ruse obviously penetrates. He's no more a 'book worm' than he is a capable TV on radio presenter. It's a shtick. He's transparent. Utterly devoid of sincerity or credibility. This latest disgrace should now signal his much delayed permanent demise. To steal or procure or acquire, and then play down ill gotten undeserved payments, most especially in the face of his abject pointlessness is a slap in the face for the mostly mainly decent folk he proclaims to represent in his 'kind' man persona which is a vapid hypocrisy. what question are you asking? what would an accountants reaction be to a company agreeing to pay a contractor an extra amount on the basis of a sponsorship agreement and then underwriting it in case the sponsor went away?
Id say it was a commercial agreement, there isnt anything particularly wrong with it.

Arrogant he is. If you listen to the radio show on a regular basis the mask slips on a frightening number of occasions. One time, after describing a person doing something for the sake of it and not seeking any credit, he said “what’s the point in that?”.He seems very n capable of doing anything without seeking praise for it,
Then there’s his comments about breastfeeding, or his comment about women having check marks on the their arses to showcase their devils abilities.

If you think this isn’t serious, have a chat with the many RTE employees who have had to suck up pay cuts, pay freezes an redundancies while their top “star” was receiving undeclared secret payments to keep his salary at its over inflated level. Credibility is shattered as is trust between the public between RTE and Tubridy. RTE is the organisation who investigates wrongdoing through its current affairs programs. Yet this stuff has been happening in house.

RTE and their presenters have been tax dodging for years so this is hardly a surprise. All done by well paid accountants. This is just a newer method of payment without the public seeing so no bad press

Not at all, H. Unless there is some form of tax evasion going on I just don’t see how this is Ryan’s fault.
I wouldn’t call the guy “my hero”, I don’t even listen to his show. I don’t know anyone under 60 who listens to RTÉ in the morning. I was once admonished, on this very site, for suggesting it didn’t matter who hosted shows like ‘Live Line’ because the majority of RTÉ listeners never move the dial or turn off the radio. There will be a sharp drop on listenership in the next 20 years.
What has Ryan done wrong here? His agent negotiated terms, RTÉ accepted those terms and they make the mistake of not publishing one “element” of his pay in their reports. Does anyone really believe that Ryan reads those?
As for the pay cut, it was fairly common tactic after 2008 to make a public announcement of cuts but to make adjustments to ensure the “take home” pay remained the same. I, myself, was doing a piece of work for one of the “pillar banks”, after it was nationalised, where the top brass all took a pay cut but we worked out a way for a new payment, separate to basic pay, to be added to their payslip for the next month so they didn’t miss out on anything.
Again, for me, this is a problem for RTÉ, their accounts department and their auditor.
