Hopefully a good outcome ahead.
Sub named Titan.
Listening to a Royal Navy officer on Drivetime and he says he fears the story had a bad outcome as soon as the thing went missing on Sunday i.e. there is nobody left alive to be rescued.
He may well be right, especially with the stories emerging of the submersible being effectively a dangerous heap of junk.
Ok, I was thinking this little platform.couldnt travel 400 miles. Thanks
Wonder how many dives has it done down to Titanic to date ?
How or why it wasnt certified by a recognized body is unbelivable. Private fishing and cargo vessels have to comply with weight, bouancy and safety regs, get inspected routinely, etc. Just cause they were private, doesnt mean they dont need to meet safety regulations.
The hatch being bolted shut from the outside should have been a nu-uh moment for anyone. Hope they're found floating somewhere.
A big barrell with an engine and computer equipment. Insane.
From reading the story I actually think that the sub suffered a catastrophic failure and imploded. No comms, no pings and no sign of it surfacing, i think the hull breached and they’re all gone already. I’ll never understand the lure of near death adventure and even though I’m sure they knew the risks (and didn’t think the worst could happen) it’s sad for their families.
US "experts " running with theory it has become entangled with wreckage.
Why on earth would you be so concerned about toilet facilities?
Oh wait😁
Just one button. An on and off switch and the rest is touchscreens on two monitors. If it loses power your inside a bolted from the outside cramped tube.No safety beacon or anything on the outside of the hull that could be released to surface and then set off signal when it reaches the surface.
Guy on CH4 news, worked in that industry, keeps in contact with peoole who are now in the search. He is saying, he was told that tapping has been heard.
I wonder if they have suicide pills. If they run out of air, it will be like the immigrants inside the locked truck container, slowly suffocating, ripping their clothes off, etc, only in cramped conditions.
Experimental vessel. How it was allowed take paying passengers is beyond me. One thing a couple of mates playing with hacking together a vessel taking themselves down to depths rarely explored, another thing taking paying passengers.
A ton of Valium would send them asleep and unaware. Yet it doesn’t suppress breathing the way barbiturates do so if they were theoretically rescued lives could potentially be saved.
Strange - how can tapping be heard? They don't even know where the craft is surely?
On a similar note, what sort of comms does it have (in normal times)? When it surfaces, it surely can't rely on being within sight of its main ship? Is it supposed to be all alone while underwater?
Or I suppose - how is it "missing"? If there was comms to the surface and they're now gone, that probably points towards a hull breach?
Another danger is they could simply freeze to death, even if the oxygen is still running.
But many are sceptical that they even survived the initial negative / bad event that caused it to go missing.
30 I believe.
Would they have food and water to last?
Also odd question- how would you go to the toilet?
Hope it works out anyway.
In that situation automatically in your underpants
that is another major design flaw. If your computer freezes, you turn it off and then turn it back on. But, what if the on off switch is a touchscreen 'button'. The button I saw looks like it was stolen from a regular lift, not like a physical switch.
They have a chemical toilet and were told to bring snacks. Enough water to last 4 days? Doubtful. If they are found they are going to be in a pretty bad way.
Bonkers stuff when you think about it.
Translation - let's keep coming up with angles to keep the clickbaits coming on a slow news day.
Not sure if this has been posted already.

A whistleblower was fired in 2018 for raising safety concerns and a few are mind blowing especially this one:
At the meeting Lochridge discovered why he had been denied access to the viewport information from the Engineering department—the viewport at the forward of the submersible was only built to a certified pressure of 1,300 meters, although OceanGate intended to take passengers down to depths of 4,000 meters.
When I watched the documentary on the Titan, I was thinking, "if it had wheels, I wouldnt get into it to bring me 400 metres down the road, nevermind 4000 metres underwater.
Another thing which occured to me. The US Navy DSRV, Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle has a universal collar on it, so it can 'connect' to US, French, even Russian subs. Even if, it could go to that depth, which I believe it can't, even if it could, the collar is pointless because there is no hatch on the Titan.
Feel sick just thinking of that, never mind the rest.
It's like they'd never heard of Apollo 1.
All kinds of red flags in that article, cannot believe these rich people didn't research the company a bit more before going on their thrill ride. Absolute madness, looks like they have paid the ultimate price.
The MIR had 2 subs one backing up the other with additional lighting and external net cutting tools etc
One mir jolted the other when stuck on the titanic according to an article
Plus they had a load of windows afaik
Titan had one tiny window and cameras afaik
Sadly the best case scenario would be instant death after some form of collapse of the hull structure. Which is probably what happened.
Going 4km down in an uncertified machine is madness.
Probably wasn't tethered either.
How would this work in practice makes no sense
