Renewable Energy Photo Thread

There have been some great photos of Boardsies' Renewable Energy setups posted over the years, but they have been lost in the various threads at this stage.

I'm setting up this dedicated thread which might make it easier for show off your new install or DIY project, and for new posters to find/get ideas. All sorts of renewable energy setups welcome.. but I suspect Solar PV will make up most of the photos. 🙂

Yeah @Jonathan that's the one, connected to a smart plug and sitting on two L brackets above the inverter (cannot be mounted below as the inverter is about 30cm from the ground) got the 3 fan version as it seems to push around a bit more air, at least on paper 😁

Sorry guys, but it will be quite a while before I will find out whether blowing or sucking is better. I've recently suffered quite a bad house fire that has not done the PV system any good. All the felt under the tiles has melted, so will be claiming a new system when the house is repaired.

Hope your insurance was up to value too. I had an oil leak a few years back. Buggers tried to hit me with €8k of the bill because the house was under insured.

Agreed. In the case of my oil leak under insurance it was the assessor who went back and haggled with the insurer to avoid me being on the hook.

€40k to clean up 100l of oil...

Everybody is ok and that's the main thing 🤘

One advantage is that you now have an opportunity to put up more panels and max out the roof space you have...you could put at least 4 more panels up and even a few on the other roof. Unless those 4 were already taken down from the fire damage.

Nice. I guess it's a start but we need a lot more. It's really as cheap as chips. The biggest PV farm in the world is 10 times that size and cost just €1 billion to build (and provides enough to power half a million homes in Ireland for the year)

So we need about 10 of these large ones (or 100 small ones) plus several times what we already have in wind

For sure, and it's great for us. Car is charging from solar excess today. That still feels class. Ever little helps.

Had some randomer call to the house recently asking if the panels were worth it. And I was delighted. I was that randomer when I was looking at quotes.
