Clare GAA Discussion part 2
Not sure what grounds of complaint they could have given they are in Croker the next 2 rounds, should they get there.
Pure madness. That place isn't big enough for a double header AI Qf.
Dubs bring a few thousand clare 10k galway 10 k and tipp 15k.
Quarter finals double headers have been played in thurles and cork before in stadia with similar attendance
more like Celbridge
Had to have been a double header to make it viable, Thurles would have been the natural venue but Tipp qualifying rules that out, for Tipp and Galway Limerick is the middle, for Clare Dublin it's clearly a massive advantage to Clare but it's still ~2 hours from Dublin to Limerick.
Dubs v Clare, eh...
Was less than 35k for these games last year, I'd imagine Cork and Wexford's following would have been bigger than Tipp and Dublin's this year.
Won't even be close to full, stop talking shi*e for once.
You're adopting a bit of an attitude there pal, I'd tone it down if I were you.
I wonder did they agree, did they actually have any choice in the matter
Anyone who has read Daly's book knows the craic , Dublin county board agreed with what ever the gaa wanted and told the hurler's to get on with it
They wouldn't dream of letting the footballers out of hq for a Leinster championship game against Kilkenny FFS ..
I wouldn't be surprised if Micheal o'Donohue wasn't consulted on the issue
Do you think it will be full?
No tickets online
Anyone know if more tickets will be released online before the weekend?
Will be terrace tickets on general sale again I'd imagine.
Lohan has dropped four from the panel?
You can only have a panel of 36 for All-Ireland series. Clare had 40
Tough time of the year to get cut. Must be on some session.
I think Clare’s ‘bench’ played a challenge with Galway’s ‘bench’ last weekend. That probably weeded the last few out
Who are the 4
Mike Gough (Smith O’Briens)
Ian MacNamara (Killanena)
Gearoid O’Grady (Kilmihil)
Oisin O’Donnell (Crusheen)
Very unusual to see a man from Kilmihil on the hurling panel, have they had many or any down the years, I don't ever recall any in the last say 30 years anyway.
Apologies - he actually plays his hurling with Kilmaley! Which makes more sense haha (plays Football with Kilmihil)
you are correct, I don't think there has ever been a Kilmihil man on a Clare senior hurling team/panel [unless possibly the late 19th century or early part of 20th]
Few over the years underage , Martin O'Leary, Sean Crowley Eoin callanan would have been in recent years , ger o Grady ( no relation to gearoid) played under age under loughnane in the early 90s I think,
The late John moran captained a Clare minor teams in the 70s I believe, most of them would have used there hurling Club rather than kilmihil, as in ballyea, kilmaley , Eire Og or Clarecastle
North Stand tickets on Ticketmaster now!!
Is Jack Browne a Kilmihil man?
Jack Browne is ballyea.
Stan linen who hurls for ballyea is from kilmihil, likewise Martin O'Leary
Technically yes his family moved down to ballyea from the parish before he started national school
It annoys me that there are not more under age structures in west Clare it seems easier sending lads off to kilmaley or ballyea and being done with it but there should be more at club level in the west
Michael Collins's from clonlara is a perfect example, his father was a descent footballer from quilty but no hurler , or so he says,in truth he never got the chance to find out if you ask me there are no under age structures in place to find out
Michael is one of the brightest talents on this year's minor team , had his family moved back west we may never have heard of him
I thought Browne played football with Kilmihil.
